^ true, but just by looking at the trends it appears to be increasing in value.  I saw that it just took a little dip here recently so I put a little more money into it.  If I had a crystal ball I might be throwing a hell of a lot more into it.   Yeah, the fees are a complicated thing. It...

More information that I've come across: Since the established ledger of all bitcoin transactions (known as the blockchain) is public, it's generally very easy to trace where a bitcoin has been.  Because this knowledge is public, Coinbase will, from time to time, track where the bitcoins you buy...

Another thing I recommend to bitcoin newbies: over the past month, bitcoin started out at around $780 a coin, briefly peaked at about $1150 around the start of the new year, and is now back down to around $780 a coin.  Watch recent trends and know that this form of currency can be highly...

@screamingmimi, spot on.  I found a website that goes into a bit more detail about the privacy element of all this: http://cryptorials.io/how-to-use-bitcoin-anonymously/ I'm going to start implementing some of these tips in my future purchases.

There was a huge rally there for a few days, but even as it was going I had a feeling it was in for a market correction.  Seemed like the bubble popped. I made my first payment using bitcoin, and it processed just fine by going coinbase->electrum->recipient.  I put a good chunk of change...

I can't say that I know anything about that.  Have you input two e-mails for verification? I gotta say, I kinda wish I had bought more back when I bought my bitcoins.  They're up past $1100 at the moment.  I made over a hundred bucks just by waiting for the transfer to come in. Wish I knew...

    Medically-assisted opiate cessation

Just a quick success story: Well, I fell down a flight of stairs yesterday.  I tried to walk it off, but I could tell that I did some serious soft-tissue damage when my back struck the steps.  I had a friend drive me to the ER and, even though I was in a massive amount of pain, I made a...

@screamingmimi , the reason electrical costs factor in is because bitcoin mining uses a *lot* of computational power.  Extremely complex mathematical equations are being thrown at your hardware all the time, and processing those equations puts a heavy load on your processor.  Processors draw...

From what I gather, bitcoin mining is a means that the community uses to verify transactions and track the amount of currency changing hands, as well as a means to introduce new currency into the marketplace.  It's the way that bitcoin self-regulates as a currency because there is no governing...

Whelp.  I made the leap.  Bought myself a fraction of a bitcoin.  Bought a little extra just in case the exchange rate drops before it goes into my account.  It seems like a particularly volatile currency, but the trend lines are encouraging. Getting electrum set up on my desktop.  We'll see...

    Medically-assisted opiate cessation

It's been about a year since I updated.  My road hasn't been completely clean, and it's been less than a month since I last caved and used. I no longer have easy access to opiates, which is great.  But I have used from time to time over the past year, usually for not more than three days in a...

Sorry to hear that :-/.  I've been wading into this thing very carefully over the past few months, but I've thrown my hands up in frustration many times simply because the concept seems to be so opaque and fraught with peril.  It seems like so much better of a means than WU, though, because it...

Thanks to @screamingmimi for that video.  Makes a lot of sense now. I've read that it can be difficult to get these transfers to go through if the bitcoin wallet you're using considers the recipient to be suspicious.  Is that the case with coinbase?  I also noticed blockchain.info mentioned in...

    Medically-assisted opiate cessation

Just an update: 7.5 months opiate free.  Still taking the naltrexone, and I'll keep on taking it as long as I have easy access to the stuff. Looking back...I sometimes have whistful feelings of my time with that stuff.  But...I recognize the danger now.  Opiates start out simply amazing.  They...

  11. C @ Cheesus: Temp.pm down for anyone else?
  12. xenxra @ xenxra: @NYStateofMind my doctor's have always been pretty open minded if i can actually come in and explain the pharmacological action of the drugs im seeking instead of just telling them why i think i should be prescribed. the only time it didn't work out for me is when i was trying pharmaceuticals for depression ten years ago and suggested they let me try testosterone instead (turns out i was hypogonadal so they made a mistake denying my request at face value)
  13. T @ Testisthebest: Even down here in Florida when the pill mill docs all switched over to Suboxone and/or retired you can still find some pretty liberal docs but you gotta know what to look for. Mine does "pain management, detox, anxiety, etc. And no insurance. My doc writes me 60 5mg Valium, 14 2mg Xanax and asked if I had ever tried adderal to get more focus at work as I told him I run my own business.
  14. N @ NYStateofMind: @Alkazar do they know your history? Like I dont tell my doctor anything about myself except what they need to know,...I was able to get my dr to rx the highest dose of adderall along with valiums ..... if they dont know your history or there is no history I would just come out and ask what is the reason for their mistreatment.... they have no problem billing your insurance or taking a payment for the visit
  15. T @ Turbo259: @Layne_Cobain Thank you fam
  16. Alkazar @ Alkazar: It is INSANE how doctors treat tax paying hard working people like criminals when they ask for opioids. This world just keeps getting more and more backwards. But thanks to this site to be able to find people to help when no one in the medical world will.
