Hey Im new here and just wondering.......I see a lot of descriptions saying "pressed" but what exactly does that mean?
I am assuming it suggests thats its not manufactured by a big Pharm company but then who is manufacturing it and why would that be desirable?

pressed equals someone has a lot of powder of the chemical with cutting agents, potentially, and all that, but it gets put into presses that are made to look like bars matching a real or not real bar. With mixed qualities based on QC and the press themselves

Hi.

Welcome to the board, as a sponsor I know that your time here will be beneficial.

TLDR : Pressed is manufactured everywhere there is a market. Pressed is extremely profitable for the manufacturers yet still remaining cheap when compared with the genuine pharma product for consumers.

Your definition is correct and I applaud you for your curiosity on pressed products. If you are considering pressed you need to consider a whole load of things.

Pressed pills have been around for decades but around 2012/13 the availability and range of pressed really took off. There were many contributing factors but the largest by far was the fallout around Purdue Pharma.

You will find pressed products literally everywhere and falling into quite a few different categories.

A big category is counterfeit, this is where pressed product is manufactured at scale and passed off as genuine pharmaceutical products. To the average person they are identical to genuine including patient information, packaging and serial numbers. This is organised crime where groups get their products into the legitimate supply chain. The product quality would also be of a high standard but this category is unlikely to target individual customers. This category is particularly profitable where products still have license protection with no generic options.

Next category is counterfeit but a mix of direct to customer and elsewhere. Pakistan and India are big manufacturers of pressed counterfeit that goes direct to health services as (Pharma Grade) and also available at scale to organised crime and onward distribution to vendors. To the trained eye, these products could be seen as counterfeit, there may be the odd spelling mistake or the quality of the packaging materials. The product quality is again pretty high but the trained eye would be able to identify as counterfeit.

Next category would be products that are marketed as a pressed product. For a while pressed product was good. I found that up until maybe 2021/22 pressed was a real alternative and in most cases the quality was acceptable and ingredients pretty much as advertised. Pressed would be around half the price of the Pharma Products, in some cases less so pressed have always been attractive to the budget conscious.

Then came Fenny, then Carfenny then came Zines. Extremely potent synthetics where the pre-cursor ingredients could be bought in bulk for next to nothing. Due to the strength the pre-cursor ingredients go a long way and shipping them around was vastly easier as consignments would be small. For those with tolerances this market worked well and many were quite happy for their pressed to be full of synthetics. Those without tolerances, well for them often things went downhill fast.

Then, our current era. In my experience with pressed its a complete wild west and finding a pressed product that actually contains what it is being sold as is hard to come by. Maybe not the case for stims so much but everything else is pot luck. Even though the current market is a wild west the cost of pressed remains high which indicates demand is still strong.

Many really good vendors are not marketing pressed currently due to the fact that quality control is really difficult. Couple of my DNM go to's have totally given up on pressed even though they are hugely profitable. I love these vendors, these are the one's that I try to build long lasting relationships.

Anyway, if you have read this far, thank you and stay safe, the world is becoming a scarier place every day.

Is QC so difficult bc of the mixing required to evenly distribute the ingredients? Can't have hot spots of dangerous chems.

Have wondered how they manage that with dry ingredients. I suppose there's a machine for that, a blender maybe? Depends on volume I suppose.

The blenders I’ve seen at farm@ companies are insane and have ranged from $5,000 -$60,000 or more depending on how much material is needed, as well as the precision, vacuum pressure, and dose of medicine.
For prospective, 250 m-g gab@pentin is a whole lot less noticeable and dangerous than 0.070m-g of supposedly 0.10 m-g cl0nid1n€

No doubt there would be a science to it, the smaller the dose. Do you think some small time vendors might be using KMart blenders? :-)

Haha probably not, well I hope not… There are a couple types that are a couple grand for small amounts of solids and you can probably find a used one. If you’re going all the way with pr€s$ing and such then I’d hope they’d invest a little bit

With those each pile of dust will have - let’s say 5 m-g of bř0m. When it’s pressed, 4 might end up in one quarter of the bàř. Not 1.2-1.3 per square like the fancy fařm@ mixers

So, not cheap or easy. And nobody, well most, don't want 4mags when thinking they're getting 1.3. Could have consequences. You come across such stories now and again.

Haha yeah typically those are involved more often in those stories

just beginning my journey as a publisher of pressed mags the cost related to the machines to bind the books can be insane however depends I guess on the quality you want in the overall publication. Personally I invested in equipment I thought would ensure consitant font, paper quality and as mentioned important that all articles in the mag are of same length, when reading cheap pressed mags its a guessing game of whats going on. Seeing that I have been dealing with this topic for 25 years...etc I opt to ensure constant, reliable quality all the rest comes if you attention to detail is relative. I would gladly appreciate any and all feedback concerning where my scratch is best spent, V mxrs, Repose meas.....etc or any other advice on the topic as I am new to publishing.
