Mine was shipped 9/29 and I did opt for the insurance since it only cost about $8 to insure a small order. I didn't need it though since it eventually arrived.

Stocking up is a good idea but remember that saying about keeping your eggs in one basket. Making a large order can be risky so never spend more than you can afford to lose. I've accumulated a stock pile by placing a new order every week or so.
