Just got one of these "Verify your phone number" emails. Reading the headers, the email seems to have originated in Lagos Nigeria. I previewed the tinyurl destination before visiting, and as before, it takes you to a phishing site designed to look like the Proton authentication page--this time...
Thank you @GungHofor sharing the article. The lack of due process is super-unsettling. To me it seems at odds with the 14th amendment.

Might not be a bad idea to check proton authentication logs and sessions under Settings > Security. The logs can be wiped, but if they have, that could also be telling.
I received a couple of these a few days ago and reported the phishing attempt to ProtonMail. In both cases the emails appear to be from protonmail.com addresses, though the "from" header also references a tutanota address.
