lucy- your notifications are at the top of your page- to the left of your username and to the right of your inbox.  it's a grey icon. if you're not getting notifications- then it's not turned on. you can click on it and go to "options" and then check all the boxes you want to get notifications...

Binky- there definitely is because I've hit quota more than once! Not sure exactly how many the limit is- maybe 4 or 5 or so? but the weird thing is- even though it says my quota for the day has been reached- i'm able to use it again after a few hours...  the other day i hit my daily quota 2-3...

welcome, kendane! as for advice, hmmm i'm new here too.  first of all- read the rules.  go into your profile and settings and set it up to your liking. (the default for me was no notifications- but once i figured it out- it made my forum experience so much better when i'd get notifications...

hmmm... i click on "quote" underneath your post and it automatically shows up in the reply window in a grey box. then i type underneath it. not sure why you are having a problem? i'm using a PC.  i try to plant every spring- but no luck. they sprout- but then either disappear or start to die...
