Best way to wein off

Hi

my dr had me on 4 x 2mg Xanax a day. He retired and said it’s gonna be tough anyone have any suggestions. Was thinking of using a longer acting Benzo to cut back.

Hey I’ve tapered off very high benzo doses that have been maintained for long periods of time a couple times. I’m talking 10mg Xan or equivalent too with other benzos. Your best move is to switch over to a long acting benzo with a long half life like Valium or clonazepam. Maybe do it a little at a time weaning from one to the other. Keep your dose on the new meds as low as possible where you can’t sleep good at night. Then slowly work it down and once low go to dosing every other day until you feel strong enough to go off
