I would like to discuss di@z (val1um as i understand is just a brand name and not the active ingredient) with regards to the wildly different prices i find among different vendors.
As far as i'm concerned, in drugs with just one active ingredient there is no difference in effect, tho there might be some difference in the stuff they add to help it dissolve. In short 10 mg is 10 mg. The rest is placebo.
Let me be clear about placebo tho. Placebo is a very real and potent effect, it has been scientifically proven to be so and if you feel for instance that a brand med gives you better effect than a generic it most likely does. That thing one hears about placebo being "all in your head" is very misleading as if it's just your imagination. What placebo actually does is to mobilize your body's physical resources, the kind of resources you could say it "saves for a rainy day".
There is an evolutionary precedence for saving those resources, back before modern medicine exited. Back then even tho you were sick, it was easy to get other injuries or diseases possibly even worse than the ones you were struggling with, and the immune system had to keep some of it's resources in reserve in case something even worse happened. These days when medicine has improved a lot and people are less sick (tho i'm sure there are people on this forum who would like to dispute that, though i hope we can agree that on average the population is healthier than it was hundreds or thousands of years ago), placebo provides a sort of "license" to mobilize those resources which is better used now since you probably won't get a case of the black death any time soon.
One of the worlds leading experts on placebo who knows everything about how it works actually cut himself in the arm and then injected himself with a saltwater solution and felt the pain go away instantly. It was supposed to do nothing, but since he knew everything about placebo and how it works he could say with absolute confidence that it would actually work.
I got quite off-topic here, but i wanted to make absolutely sure people knew i respect the placebo effect and accept that people get a lot out of it.
My problem is that i don't (how much you get out of the placebo effect is very individual). And for me 10 mg di@z is 10 mg di@z, provided their not 10 years old and stored openly on a bench in the brazilian rainforest or something Which brings me back to what i was originally going to talk about. Without mentioning specific vendors i see all kinds of prices for, what is to me, the same meds. Some want 2$ or more per pill (same vendor could actually give you better deals on other brands) and others could give you 0.33$ per pill. That's quite a huge difference. That means six pills for every one pill. Feels like some vendors are looking to rip you off :/ I've started to write lists on different meds in order to compare prices and i'm sorta shocked at the difference.
I realize of course that there are other factors, like customer service, discretion, security, payment methods, reliability and so on. And since i'm new to this i might change my tune once i get more experience in those areas. However prices in product shocked me and i was wondering if anyone had any thoughts to share about this huge discrepancy. I feel like all the others factors i've mentioned makes it hard to justify a 600% price hike.
