DM Notifications

I can't figure out how in the heck to get "notifications" when I get a DM. Every option I see is turned on, including "pop up window on notifications"....I don't see anything else to try unless I'm illiterate or a toddler. I don't think there is a keyword I haven't searched for in regards to this.... I have to actually visit the site to check. Am I missing something here? Even email notification would be awesome. I can help with all kinds of trade secrets for payment and shipping of mags but heaven forbid I figure out this simple thing 🤦‍♂️

I have a feeling I'm about to feel really stupid. Fire away.
