I thought it would be nice if we had a thread about our experience with using essential oils for pain relief. A co-worker sells them and she gave me a bottle of the Clove essential oil on Friday to try. Apparently it is known for reducing inflammation in the body. I was very skeptical, but hey it was free :-)

Anyway, my results were amazing. I put it on my glands, under arm and on my neck, Friday during the day and again before bed. I woke up Saturday and I felt almost no pain. In fact, I did not need pain medication until Sunday evening. Although my SO said I smelled like food- burn food to be specific. lol.

Have any of you tried the use of essential oils? If so, I think it would be nice if we kept this thread alive for those who are interested in adding alternative methods to reducing their pain.

:-)

Thanks for sharing this with us, I'm always up for trying anything helpful. Do you apply it to the affected area? Say, if my knees are painful I would put it there? Where do you buy it? I don't mind smelling like burnt food most of the time /default_smile.png

:-)

In my case I applied it to the glands because I have lupus so my pain, aside from spinal damage, is primarily a result of inflammation.

I got mine from a woman who sells it but u can find plenty of vendors on the internet. Also ur local health food or alternative health store should have it

Hi Moonbeam, thanks for starting this thread.  I use an oil combination of lavender, ginger grass, bergamot and peppermint for calming and relaxation before I go to sleep. The lavender has multiple uses but for me it is most helpful for calming my mind.  I'd love to find oils to help my back pain but I've yet to find the magic brew.  I'll definitely try the clove oil as I have inflammation from a bad cage in my L5/S1.

Thanks so much for the tip and let me know if you have any thoughts on oils for pain.

Keeks
