Well, it's been a little over a year since I spoke up about my frustration with the American Economy and attempted to do something about it for y'all. I wish I could say my post resulted in a ground swell of sweeping change that shamed vendors from every corner of the economy to slash prices and make life in America more affordable, more enjoyable, and less stressful. Unfortunately, it seems quite the opposite. The prices of everything continue to soar. Random fees are being added to bilk us out of even more money, convenience fees, employee healthcare fees, credit card payment fees. The US dollar is being abandoned as the global standard for economic stability. When will it end? Who will stop the insanity?
Well, once again, I won't stand for it and I am willing to do more than just bitch about it.
As many of you know, I was recently held up at gunpoint in my own living room. I was robbed of my entire inventory, many valuable and precious personal possessions, and the large majority of my savings. Despite this, my principals demand action in the face of so much undue struggle.
I am a one man show and have always worked to keep my prices as competitive as possible. Often, I cannot undercut my larger, more well funded competitors on price, so I work hard to make up for it by providing unparalleled customer service. I maintain no order minimum, I offer free samples, and I work tirelessly to fulfill and ship orders in less than 24 hours. Regardless, I still need to keep my prices low and my margins thin if I want to survive. And yet, when I hear from my loyal customers the hardships they are enduring as they apologize for not having the disposable income to place their usual order I feel compelled to do something about it.
I have said before that money is not the motivating factor behind what I do. In case anyone still has any doubts, I hope this puts them to rest:
