Is There Any Good Ones Other Than Soma

I've tried quite a lot over the years and none has ever helped, or made me feel good, as much as Soma. I don't know why the feds finally decided to mess with them. In my experience the only real danger is to people who have a tendency to go into convulsions. Epileptics and such should stay way, but otherwise they work well and are not that dangerous.

Take enough and you will not be able to walk or talk, that's for sure. I can say the same about a number of things, including alcohol and benzos.

But I've tried Flexeril and slept like I'd taken a tricyclic such as Elavil. My wife liked them for some reason, and apparently others do to because they are for sale at some places.

Docs have given me Robaxin and it did just what the label said, take every 4 hours for back pain. It really made my back hurt, and others I'd share them with agreed.

Skelaxin didn't seem to do much and Parafon Forte was useless too.

The one I've never tried that some seem to find effective is baclofen. I had a friend who was given some but he wound up snorting too many original OC 40s and I lost him before he had a chance to share.

Yep, you should try Listaflex, available from various Argentina email vendors. Very similar in strength to the Watson 5513 carisoprodol I used to be able to get.

But it does contain carisoprodol? Thanks, but I'm asking if anyone has ever found a different substance that actually helped relive back pain. As long as my friends from the sub continent keep delivering at a decent price I'm good there.

To be honest this section seemed to be added recently and I hated to see it sitting there with no comments at all. Muscle relaxers may be far behind other things in popularity, but I am too. I just didn't want this red headed step kid thinking it had no friends.  /default_smile.png

listaflex is soma

i gotta new source im tryin

also has gadors ill let you know how it pans out

How much are the SA soma? The Watson I've seen in ads contains apap, and I'm not a fan that stuff. For people with a lower tolerance the extra Tylenol may not be a big problem, but I avoid it when possible. Even at 175 mg per pill if you start multiplying several times it can be trouble for the liver.

The others I've found are generally around $.50, much cheaper than the Watsons without the acetaminophen. Strength varies from around 2/3 of usual to 3/4. Really makes me miss the Canadians dropping 300 Qualitest down here for $110. Thanks to kids whose parents want to legislate their responsibility. I took too much too, but I didn't ask congress to stop the mail order business.  /default_dry.png Not taking too much tonight...

Zanaflex will put you down pretty good, but if you dosage gets to high you can have some horrible vivid nightmares. Get the dosage right and you will be fine and it will put you to sleep. There is one called Baclofen which works good if you need something that needs to work 24/7. It's nothing compared to Soma or Zanaflex

Never taken Soma but came across one the other day. Gonna wait til I need it to take it, but what would a good starter dose to take? Its a 350 mg pill. And would it be ok to take a low dose benzo with it (or have taken one earlier in the day)?

I doubt you will really "feel" much taking one. Even before driving my tolerance higher than the Empire State Building I could take one and feel nothing. Two is where I found myself getting relief, and a buzz. These days I take 4-6 to feel good, 2-3 to help with back pain.

I can't say how it will work for you, but it seems like the effect of Soma is blocked by using a benzo. I would try to take it a couple of days after my last benzo for best results. I have taken them together and they just don't seem to compliment each other. That's my experience though. As we all know it affects people in different ways, so your experience will probably not be the same as mine.

I will say most people who take it for the first time do have a tendency to be real sleepy after 2-3 hours. The half life is short so it won't leave you that way too long.

Thanks for the info HT. I guess if it doesn't work well with BZ then it might be real difficult for me to take it effectively. "A couple days after my last benzo".. unfortunately I couldn't tell you when the last day without one was but I'm working on it.

i take soma with my xanax every day and it works wonders on my back pain

im just trying to find some good quality soma online, i get qualitest brand from a friend, i need something that compares

i usually only take 1 a day and it helps, but its quality brand

I'm not sure where you can find Qualitest through IOPs. The only source that might have them is Jim, but I doubt even he has them. Most places that sell them have brands made and marketed overseas. The ones I buy are made in India, but people have told of places in SA that sell them too.

@ Heisenberg- It may have been my expectations and a low dose batch of Soma that brought about that perception. I had taken zannies for several days when my Soma arrived and they just didn't work as well as I expected. I haven't been using benz much until just recently, so my experience using both is limited. I have used them together a few times lately, and they didn't really seem to potentiate each other. As time goes by I'll have a larger pool of knowledge to draw from.

Does anyone have a US source for this?  I have tried several but it seems that the pharmacies are all linked and will not ship if you already purchased a 30 day supply.

You found some that will sell 90 w/out a Rx, or are you sending them a script? I'd be happy to find one that sells 90 without a script just to get a better quality and quicker shipping. If you have a US source that sells 90, even if they require a copy of the script, I'd like to know their URL. If they insist on the original being sent then it won't help me. You can PM me if you don't want to disclose the name to everyone.

Just throwin' this out this HT but what about neurontin (gabapentin)?

I know it might sound strange but it would really well for me, especially in a supplemental way. I imagine Lyrica may help too, dunno though just an optimistic suggestion,

Different alternativeness that worked for me: either a moderate dose of baclofen (like 25mg) which, unfortunately,  wasn't nearly as on par as a soma...or of course you could with Soma's benzo metabolite Meprobamate? Never tried it myself but I've heard good things with it in this regard my good sir.

Also frontier used to carry the Qualitest Soma (and/or Watson) depending on your preference but that site is long gone I believe (the phone number worked not long ago but alas I haven't gotten an email with it for a few weeks).

Good luck to you anyhow bro!

Thanks for the suggestions, advice and good wishes. I have tried Neurontin and found it useless. The drug, as you probably already know, is really designed to treat epilepsy and other seizure disorders. The fact it has few side effects led the manufacturer to push doctors into trying it for virtually any kind of neurotic problem. Although it has been effective for some in helping with pain, a placebo can too. I'm not trying to lecture you, that would be like bringing my snowball to your knife fight. I'm just trying to show I can remember some of the stuff I've seen on TV. /default_wink.png

I haven't found any sites that sell baclofen either, though I can't say I've looked as hard as I have for soma. That surprised me because a while back I was part of a "newsgroup" (kind of like a forum) for people suffering from chronic pain and a lot of them used baclofen.

The same for meprobramate. I've read things that make me believe it and soma are related (maybe your post...lol) although my ability to understand anything associated with chemistry is limited at best.

Hopefully SS will see this and google it for me. /default_biggrin.png  The only problem is that would just tell me what it is, not where to find it.  /default_rolleyes.gif Now that I think of it maybe if I add "where to buy" in my searches it will help a little.

As for Lyrica, I'm already taking Cymbalta. Fortunately I've got a good doctor, a geriatric psychiatrist actually, and my worst pain is pretty well under control. The right muscle relaxers are the best antidepressant I've found, but after over a decade 3 a day just doesn't have the same effect it used to. Three at a time works better, and 4 is really good, but for some reason I don't think he would consider prescribing that much.   /default_sad.png

Hope your having a good one my friend.

Hey HighTide, top 10 meds carries meprobramate as well as soma. The good thing is now they carry sample packs so you don't have to spend a lot of money to figure out if they work for you.

Apparently meprobromate metabolizes into Soma, similarly to how codeine metabolizes into morph.

Cool, I appreciate the help. I've submitted the info to access the site and hope to find another source for soma. I've never tried meprobamate or baclofen so finding a place that offers one or the other will be great.

BTW, I didn't recognize you at first. To tell the truth I didn't know Bryan Cranstons BB character was the same person as Malcolms dad until I saw his name in the credits. I can't wait until they air the second part of the last season. The last episode that aired had a helluva cliffhanger, I can't imagine how it will all end. The only thing that I know won't happen is me getting the pile of cash they have in that storage locker.

Thanks again my friend, I hope you too are having a great day.

No worries.  Yeah I figured it was time to switch up the avatar for a bit.  I'm stoked for season 5 this summer.

Did a little more research and it seems the Soma from TT is a generic brand from India that comes in red blisters.  The reviews of it are not so stellar.

The Meprobamate is $18 for a sample pack of 20 400mg tabs.  Made by Aspen Pharmacare so should be of good quality.  They also have samples of the Baclofen (Lioresal) you've been looking to try.  The other two choices in the muscle relaxant section are Robaxin (which you mentioned you aren't a fan of) and something I've never heard of called Orphenadrine (Norflex).

I Have no idea what most of these are.. but hope this helps. /default_wacko.png
