Frustration with the Drs in the Pacific northwest. I have arthritis in my knees ( nice Dr. Says he can feel the shattered cartlidge fragments floating ) and was born with a dislocated hip. Even though this was spotted at birth and casted after age 50 it's very painful. My husband has a cyst in his knee. Surgery denied by insurance. Husband on dosage of 7.5 mg oxycodone 1 tab 4 times daily. Dr has denied any pain meds for me even though when my stomache was found to be bleeding slightly from 6-8 aspirin daily and I received a scrip for 15 vicodin in the er which lasted two weeks guess what Regular MD went against er findings and said just keep taking aspirin. On plavix after a stroke a few years back so no advil etc. What to do? My husband is in worse shape and regular MD says wean off pain meds no surgery and if you want to continue pain management go to another clinic?? Getting old in the US is a b!t*h. Any advice would be great. Thought about codeine phosphate as a replacement for aspirin, husbands unfeeling dr.
I can relate to what you're saying, and have a history of bad experiences with doctors myself.
@KB64
I would start with trying to find a different doctor. It's not illegal to get a second opinion, just don't get meds from more than one at a time.
If that doesn't work, maybe you could travel to nearest major city?
There are always the options some of us here have taken. Once you have a diagnosis and some experience with treatment that works, sometimes we have to self treat. This is not a good idea for someone who doesn't have self control, but certainly better than nothing until a better option comes along.
Some alternative therapies do help. You may want to try acupuncture, ! massage, heat, herbal remedies or anything else you can do for yourself. If I can help, or just be a sympathetic listener, im here.
Best wishes to you. I'm sending positive energy to you. Maybe some of the other pain pts can jump in and make a suggestion or two. I don't know if you have found anything helpful here, but I know I did. Some of the people here have been my favorite find.
