She confiscates them. What can I do. She understands why I need them but is worried I'll overdose or something. I tell her not to throw them away, so I'm led to believe she hides them...I've looked - she hides WELL.

Any advice?

Great post. I'm sure many of us are faced with similar circumstances.

As for myself, my wife found out not because I told her or she found some, it was because of the numerous LL's which were arriving almost on a daily/weekly basis, a few months back. She collects the mail, which is usually addressed in a foreign language - as we do not live in an English speaking country. Thus, all the official government LL's, were starting to trouble my wife and she began asking, "What the ditch I was trying to import into this country?". I told her do to the stresses of living abroad (true) and the lack of communication with doctors here (quite true), I have no other choice but to order through legit sites wit legit doctors and prescriptions on the internet. This passed the test. She began to understand.

As time went by, finally I found an IOP which could successfully deliver. I was in heaven. But, due to past bad luck, I felt it was going to be short lived so I quickly ordered enough meds to last me at least a few years, if not more, all in the span of two months, Instead of ordering to the house, I had the meds shipped to my office. Very risky, but I felt it was worth it as I sensed my house address was flagged by Customs computer system. Since then, I've found out it was not flagged. I was just overly paranoid and was ordering from crappy IOP's which failed in every sense of the word. This was before I joined DGB.

Anyways, back to the point about wives. Some things, I believe, they don't need to know. Mainly because, especially in my case, there is a total lack of understanding as to what the meds actually do and too many negative stereotypes associated with Benzos. Thus, I bought myself a very large toolbox with a titanium lock and have stashed everything in there. Other than her throwing the whole big tool box away (which I doubt she could carry by herself), she cannot snoop around with my stuff, nor does she know what's even in there. If she dares to chuck that tool box out the door, I swear the entire world will hear the thunderous scream of Ditch.

Let's not even go down that ditchless road.

Great Ditch! Absolutely great. In the states, we use UPS/private mail boxes. Only way I can avoid snooping from hubby. It works for us.

Any post office boxes on your island? Or better yet, a postal box in a private courier store. In Canada, they are all over the place and very discrete, apparently.

My husband knows I self-medicate through IOP's to supplement my prescriptions. Not only doesn't he mind, but he approves.

And no ! He doesn't steal my meds /default_tongue.png .

Buy some sparkling wine, get some sea food and have a long and swe-e-e-et talk with her to explain how the medication makes both your lives easier.

Amazing advice on this one and so far it looks pretty good for us pill poppers. In my case and like Ditch I started having them send to my job. That stopped when I lost the job and now sent to home after. And like guinevere, my partner does not throw away my pills and he knows I have a terrible sleeping problem and knows what a |3itchy q ueen I am when I get no sleep. Hell at one point I was considering checking into Dr conrad murray's sleep clinic. I just have to show him the pills and he is ok. Now when in the past I have gotten my darling Perds he was like WTF. All this of course if I don't get to the mail first (about 1/2 the time) Also he knows if he ever threw away my important pills, he would never ever see the Little Troub' if you know what I mean.

Matt, I hope if you talk the wife she might understand and just as you say hide them and not throw them away and understand. Sometimes having someone hold your meds isn't a bad thing

rent a mail box,if cant afford get them sent to your work place or speak it out with your wife.

Yeah...found my Valium - hidden well though. Hopes hes not counted them...Now to find the Dextro!

If she understands why you need them and is worried about overdosing then perhaps you could educate her on the medications and what amount you'd have to take to put you in danger. Explain that you do gain a tolerance to medications and you may sometimes need extra when you're in pain or anxious etc. Keep the meds in a place where you both can access them so she can count them if she likes and be sure you aren't abusing them.

I'll admit to not being married, but this seems like some very controlling behavior; it would upset me greatly if someone threw out or confiscated my meds.

Same problem about 10 years ago, got busted when FedEx dude showed up.

3 words: UPS Store Mailbox! Problem solved but supplier gone ;(

You could always stop being a gelding and be a real man. Seems to me that it's time to smack a bitch and reassert your God-given dominance.

I've posted it before, but I'll do it again, take a lesson from James Bond:

And given the boyfriend app post in the other thread, I'm guessing the disapproving boyfriend / husband went the way of the supplier?

I just got the 3rd degree burn from my wife AGAIN a few days ago as she managed to get the mail BEFORE I did this week. God I hate it when that happens. Maybe it's been 10 times or so now that she's beat me to it.

Anyways, she's one VERY pissed off fire-breathing dragon right now, especially since she claims that I "promised" that no more of these mystery packages would ever arrive. Especially to our NEW house. I don't believe I promised her that, but I might have only assured her so. Big difference there, as I see it.

When is she ever gonna learn that sometimes I order things which I really "
didn't intend to or have the motive for"?

Not so sure she ever will. Oh well, just ONE more joy of being married. (not)

Oh yeah you're right on target there!! He's now the EX- HUSBAND! And I needed the pain pills to deal with his verbal, emotional, financial, and physical abuse!

He"s still crazy but refuses to see a doc to see why he's so mad all the time? Maybe once you're almost 59, you aren't gonna admit you MIGHT be part of the problem??

Been divorced since 2006 and he still picks on me. It's a cyclical thing, every 3 months he goes psycho then 3 months nice as can be.

I've always thought he may be bi-polar. If I felt like that (and a good friend who has it says it's horrible), I would want treatment meds to feel be better.

Hey Slammer, sorry to hear about your mail issues. ShootI remember before I had the UPS Store box, I would wait on the corner if the ex was working at home to intercept it-lol.

I would LOVE to be married to someone who didn't use me to have a kid-lol. Maybe someday I'll meet a Suave Chewie who likes to dance and go out & enjoy life ??

It's not easy meeting people (for dating). Last guy I met at the shooting range was a lot of fun but found out he forgot to mention a wife- I don't play that game, glad it never got passed shooting things and lunch-lol.

OK maybe I head over to the "MY life is boring, Any Ideas?" board and vent there-lol.

OMG I totally have ADD and I took my adderall this moring- BAN ME PLEASE SAVE THE MEMBERS FROM MY RAMBLING-lol.

You are all are very helpful & I appreciate that very, very much!!!

It can't be good for him & it's horrible for my 14 year old. Sad thing is the parent with the richest folks always wins the legal battles so I don't bother. 50/50 custody & what makes my child happy, healthy, and EMPATHATIC!!

If that kid has one trait he got from me it's empathy. That goes a long way in life-we're all the same, some just prefer drama. I wouldn't be in that category.

Yeah, I know too much information but I'm an open book. Except the avatar, she's cuter-lol.

Jewbacca's got the most awesome SAUVE CHEWIE pic!!

Yeah, that used to be a big problem for me too. I eventually decided to be honest about it and explain to her that "stealth packaging" was unfortunately the only way the meds, which were required for my sanity which our country did not sell, were able to to successfully delivered internationally and cross Customs.

Try being honest with your wife or husband about it. Let them know, as they should for they are your spouse, that you have challenges and difficulties in life which sadly only meds seem to be able to address.

On the other hand, if the meds are being used recreationally just to get blasted out of your mind and you're creating problems within the household, your job, and your life; then it's probably best you stop ordering meds online and check into a rehab center instead. For if you don't, eventually you're gonna end up losing EVERYTHING that once mattered most to you. No doubt about it.

The saying that "Honesty is the best policy," really does have truth to it.

glad i live on my own these days,no housemates, girlfriends or wife(marriage=aaargh) to pester me,stick their noses in my own business,i don't do that to anyone else,i hate it when others want to know too much about you, friends can be just as bad at times.

i try and live my life without imposing myself on anybody else, its my life not anyone elses, glad i never got married and had kids,i don't want to have those types of responsibilitys, looking after myself and trying to keep my home and pay the ever increasing bills is hard enough as it is.

if your married,no offense meant towards you, that's your life not mine.

do as thou will.

this spell checker although helpful most of the time can sometimes be a damn pain .

its bliss innit,no moaning about leaving the toilet seat up(wtf thats about?) no nag nag nag then sorry i got a headache, fuck its them what give me the headache(LOL,all tongue in cheek)
No, it's not all "tongue and cheek."

Been married 8 years now and I've been ready to P&G (pack and go) additional a 100 times. If it wasn't for our son, I would not be putting up with half the shit that goes on. Constant negatively, mood swings everytime there happens to be be a 1/4,1/2 or full moon. And problems/issues which happened a year ago (and nothing was said then) suddenly are brought up, out of the blue, just to add fuel to the fire.

Oh how I look forward to my next life /default_wink.png

I feel so lucky my husband knows what I'm up to and trusts me. I would hate the guilt and burden of sneaking around.

I only tried the sneaking once and of course I got caught! It's better to be honest about it.

Way less stressful!
