New HP Chromebook, wipe the OS and have permanent Linux

Okay so I bought a new hp. Honestly I just needed something cheap to install tails on right. In my haste I didn’t notice it was a Chromebook lol. So okay I look online, and if it had an intel processor it said I could completely wipe the stock OS off the device!?!? And perma install Linux only. Anyone have experience with this and a simple fuide hmm no
 
Sorry I avoided chrome book but my research says yes you can. Hopefully others who have done this will post.

I did something similar with a nook device just wiped out everything and only used it to hard boot tails os i need to set it back up just been a lazy bum. It did work well when I took the time set it up properly. Nook is an intel based system so take that for what it’s worth I guess.
