Question for those on ADHD meds

I thankfully don’t have this condition, but I rely on benzos for sleep and stabilizing my anxiety. I read askapatient dot com for reviews on various (usually non controlled) medications. Somehow, I came across the reviews for the generic name for Concerta. Many of them were from or about those who had been prescribed them since childhood. I understand that they and others like them are schedule 2 in America. It seems to me that doctors have been very generous with those scripts, even though they’re more tightly controlled than the benzos, which are schedule 4. Doctors are extremely reluctant, even p-docs, to write for benzos. They shout at me that they don’t want to lose their medical licenses. That’s even when I tried to get the lowest dose, in order to do a safe taper, which I told them.

Is anyone here on both types of pills? If so, could anyone tell me why doctors seem to easily script the st1ms but deny benzos??

Benzos were never designed to be prescribed for long term anxiety issues.. Doing so goes against the FDA prescribers guidelines.

ADHD has really only 1 treatment, That works anyway.. Stimulants.

ADHD can be verified by most psych doctors which will back up a GP's prescription.

Anxiety can be treated without the use of benzos and most cases with just DBT or CBT therapies.

Non controlled drugs can are are most often used in anxiety, Zoloft being the #1

The spike you see is simply due to loosening regulations around online prescribers during and after covid years. Which has since been reined in and the DEA has launched investigations into some online adhd suppliers and their doctors for over prescribing.

1 Pill to up during the day 1 pill to go down at night, what could possible go wrong with a patient being on 2 controlled substances that act against each other?

I've never been on both at the same time, but I used to take benzos and now need stimulants (yeah I'm the weirdo exception to the rule here). Unfortunately there's a lot of research that points to long term Benzo use being bad for multiple reasons. Dwindling efficacy requiring higher dosages over time or frequent stoppage of use to reset tolerance. There's links to both long term cognitive impairments and increased risk of dementia. I was taken off them after two decades of regular use because both the doctor and I agreed the risks had started to outweigh the benefits. Wasn't fun, but I eventually discovered gabapentin for anxiety and mirtazipine for sleep. Long term stimulant use for ADHD patients is pretty darn safe, in comparison.
