Can the minimum 4 character restriction on searches be lifted? Seems like a silly and arbitrary limit. There are plenty of reasons why someone might want to search for a three letter acronym.

There's gotta be a technical reason for it, like pulling up thousands of posts by searching the word and or the or even worse, LE. What are you searching for anyway? Maybe I can help. Pm me.

This caught my eye because I use to be quite involved in search algos, SOUNDEX & much more. Loved it!

In the Google search box, you can use Advanced Operators to searh for, say 3 letter terms on a site:

site:drugbuyersguide.com +"OTC"

I used an innocuous term I had posted recently for this example, but I guess it wasn't indexed yet.

For that matter, I question why ALL our forum posts are indexed in the SEs.

======

Don't worry about data mining & the Wordtrackers -- There are a billion Google queries a day.

The 4 char forum query dates to when server bandwidth was at a premium, AFAIK.

And no, it's not meant to thwart 'LE'....

  10. L @ Layne_Cobain: Yes the mars almond was in a white-ish wrapper
  11. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: Oh god! Way too much nuance and variation between Mars, Milky Way, and 3 musketeers. There’s was a special mars that had almond. A Mars bar from the UK is closer to a snickers than a traditional mars. What a rabbit hole though.
  12. S @ sawganaut: Snobording ok skiisss

  14. L @ Layne_Cobain: Anyone remember mars bars? I remember as a kid going over to my grandpas he’d keep them in the freezer we’d get there and go right for them haha so good think had almonds in them probably similar to a snickers almond
  15. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: Okay, somehow I missed putting my two cents in during the chocolate discussion. The big near-half-pound slab of Hersheys Symphony bar with the BLUE label is hands down the best mainstream chocolate bar in America. You folks over across the pond kill it with Cadbury’s and I won’t deny it’s the best but those damn blue symphonies have me hooked.
