Seeing A psychiatrist

I have a few drug charges on my record for trying to self medicate because i hate going to doctors.  I been to them multiple times to try to for anxiety Medication.  I got prescribed lexapro, Buspar, Visceral, Prozac...they tried everything and it does not work.  I also would like to go back to school and have small adhd and it would be so much more difficult to get high gpa with the anxiety and the failure to retain information.  With all that being said and having drug charges.  If i went to the right psychiatrist and explained that i was in prison and being on the street is just too much to handle with the anxiety would i still b able to get prescribed xan or kpin and possbily some add like substance? I wouldnt need alot just somethn to help as needed and for keeping my attention in classes.  These psychiatric feelings are like impending doom for actually succeeding in life.  I have a family member that has alot of money and knows a great psych.  Would it be worth the money and the time to try and get something to help with all these conditions? Or just an automatic no

You don't have to tell the psychiatrist that you've been convicted of drug related charges, but a lot of the time people who go to psychiatrists looking for specific medications are considered "drug seeking" and more than likely not going to get what they're looking for.  That said, if you know people who are prescribed b3nz0s then i would try the psychiatrists/doctors they see as they may be more likely to prescribe that class of drug.  I know a lot of psychs don't even prescribe them anymore because of the rate of abuse, or if they do they drug test regularly.  Not sure what area you are in as i'm sure that differs depending on region.  Anyways, i hope you get what you need.  Anxiety and ADHD are hard to navigate in this world.

I been prescribed soo many non narcotic anxiety meds and im getting too old to go to the streets, i wasn't prescribed wellbutrin but i have tried it and it did not work.  If i tell them  that i can't concentrate, always am trying to move fast, can never finish projects for more then 20 min, having racing thouhts before sleeping, after waking up i have exterme chest pains, and even more then then. Then tell them all the stuff i was tried to get prescribed before and ask for something stronger will that work? If i say I had friends that offered me these alprazolam/adderrall because of these problems and it worked good, im not trying to get high just go back to school without anxiety and the focus to get good grades.

i personally wouldn't mention the drugs you are looking for just because the psychiatrist might view you as drug-seeking as in just looking to get high.  Obviously it doesn't hurt to try, except by hurting your wallet for psychiatrist visit costs.  I would tell them you have previous diagnosis of adult ADHD and generalized anxiety disorder and then describe your symptoms and the debilitating effects it has on your life and then see what they say.  If they prescribe you b3nz0s it will most likely be @tivan.  Usually they ask if you've tried things b4 and that would be your opportunity to say whats worked for you though i wouldn't tell them you tried them illicitly personally.  Also if youre using insurance to see psychiatrist they will flag you if you see lots of different doctors for "doctor shopping" meaning youre just seeking abusable medications.  Just an FYI.  Again, i hope you find what you need.

i got prescribed @tivan before and was very weak, that should show on my records, My uncle is going to pay for everything to help me out, ill tell them to charge extra for good practice? lol

If you are going to see a psychiatrist then I would recommend full disclosure, Open your mind up or you are never going to get the full benefits. The best psychiatrists will dig that information out of your brain regardless so don’t fight it, it’s going to happen. If you display classic drug seeking behavioural patterns then they will not prescribe based on good practice. But if you are truly in need of psychiatric care and a drug regime that will help you get better they are duty bound to do so. It would be prescribed in smaller quantities, a three day refill etc. I’m not entirely sure how it works in the states.

The medical profession is for want of a better word screwed! They take an oath yet are so quick to judge based on a past that may no longer exist to the detriment of ones treatment. 

If you feel you really need a psychiatrist to get to the bottom of your problems by all means but don’t except them if you do disclose to prescribe what you need or make a sweeping statement. I would probably use them as a guide for consultations and reinforcement to get to the route cause but still have a ‘provider’ as op said some will no longer prescribe given the high drug abuse. It’s absurdity!

Trying to actually just get stuff that I can better my life with thats not doing it illegally.  I can work/study better on adderall or something of the sort.  I have massive panic attacks at night and slight ones during the morning.. It's not SOOO bad during the day but still have some.  Especially wen i have a girlfriend i have constant panick attacks to the point i have to lay down and try to calm myself down and from stop shaking.  I have a hard time also retaining information after being locked up for a small amount of time and my attention span does not last long. For some reason i try to do every single thing in my life fast, i can never slow down? i dont kno the xact cause but they shuld b able to help.  ALl the non narcotics i have been tried on before just have no effect watesoever.  I just dont want to waste the money if its not going to help.  GO to 10 appointments for literally nothing is not worth it.  I kno what will help me but i dont kno if its the right thing to do....Maybe they will

Hey @ogkushy you are the only one that can make that call mate it sounds to me like you need some kind of therapy to get to the root cause of why and especially in certain scenarios .  There’s various treatment methods they use that go beyond narcotics if you are under the right care. Or a mixture of the two there’s unfortunately not a one shoe fits all answer my friend but perhaps they are worth seeing to be properly diagnosed. Remember you will be a perfect stranger to them don’t self diagnose and think about the long term. Be honest like you have been on this thread and I’m sure if they are worth the degree hanging on their wall they will set up the appropriate care for you. It can take time to come to a diagnosis but if you feel they have bracketed you in a certain box due to your past the find a new one! The key to unlocking your future is found by understanding your past behaviour. Regardless my friend good luck and keep us informed on how you get on.
