I don't have enough of these - Guys guard their per-competition tricks jealously. Here are the only two I know of:
- In an old Muscle and Fitness magazine, there was an interview with Kevin Levrone and Ronnie Coleman. Coleman said he couldn't believe how dry Levrone was at EVERY show of that year's Grand Prix, it was like he nailed his diet every day (which is impossible). Supposedly, Levrone told Ronnie "before you go to bed tonight," (the shows were at 10AM or so) "get one of those little vodkas out of the mini bar, fix a cup of coffee, dump the vodka in it, take it to the head, brush your teeth, and go on to sleep." Coleman figured it was a trick (like Arnold telling the British bodybuilders to eat crushed walnut shells and a tablespoon of salt the night before a NABBA Mr. Universe), but Levrone was killing it on this Grand Prix, so he figured he'd try it. Legend has it he stepped on stage the next morning looking dryer and harder than ever, with veins everywhere.
- This one I've tried myself - drink 4oz of a dry red wine (a Merlot, or a Shiraz) the night before the show, and don't drink any water or eat a crumb before you step on stage. Meh, it's not a dramatic effect, but it's an improvement over doing nothing.
