For those that have been around for a while, the heady days of the Silk Road are a distant daydream. Yesterday it was announced that the iconic founder member was to be pardoned. In 2015 Ulbricht was sentenced to life. Some say that this demonstrated, "Overreach" of the State. Considering at it's peak there were around 1,500 live sellers and conservative estimates of 100,000 buyers moving huge amounts of product it could have been judged as a reasonable sentence.

All of that aside what could this signal to current DNM sellers and buyers. Personally I would expect that this pardon has a significant impact on DNM's.

I know if I was a vendor I would be sleeping easier tonight for sure..

Thought's?

agreed, it seems clear that donald trump's intentions, at least for now, are to keep hands off darknet markets unless they're involved in human trafficking or child exploitation materials. i think his position will change in time but for now he has campaign donors to reward for their support.

wasn't the primary basis for ulbricht's sentencing that he, you know, tried to have something like 6 business associates killed by a fed pretending to be a member of the hells angels? the pardon is donald trump fulfilling a campaign promise to the number one corporate donor to both parties: the same ftx that sam bankman-fried made famous.

the grifter in chief also launched his own meme coin with a prospectus suggesting he would rug pull after 3 months of something like that. he released his coin. his wife released hers the next day, tanking the value of his coin by 40%. people are buying this stuff on credit cards, they're being wiped out by behavior that any marginally ethical investment manager would know screams "red flag" and "conflict of interest" as trump is about to select the head of the securities and exchange commission.

Super insightful, thanks for the reply. Those murders I think were the catalyst for sentencing at that level. I am going to pay a little more attention to DNM's over the next 3-6 months. See if this pardon has any influence on vendors or markets..

keep us updated. that's really interesting. trump just banned adoption of a cbdc and, thereby, appears to be doubling down on the strategic national reserve of bitcoin too.

  15. D @ drdrizzy13: Yeah it was definitely a hold. Can't blame the refs for calling it. But I've seen many sketchy calls in the past to help the spread or over/under lol.
  16. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: Wonder how much money was impacted by that last touchdown and holding call back. The refs were flirting with the over/under payoffs… that flag either cost a lot people some money or won them a bunch. But I guess you can’t say it was a bad call, just a very impactful one.
  17. shoutback @ shoutback: Fucking A nfl season is over :( Those were by and far the best teams this season. That Elite D will just stifle mofos. And ya gotta give Darnold his flowers for taking care of the football. That was professional.
  18. M @ meepmoopmeep: Too bad that football season is over now
  19. M @ meepmoopmeep: Seahawks offense left more to be desired (esp during first half) but patriots offense was just abysmal. A win is a win though. Squawk squawk!
  20. shoutback @ shoutback: Excuse me ladies and gentlemen, I seem to have left a little squawk here and little squawk there
