Has anyone got any experience using sodium valproate to prevent seizures from stopping bnz, mainly alps.

Do you need to start taking it whiles reaching the lowest dose you can go to before running out, or when you stop? How much would you need to use and for how long?

Can't really find out much about it from a non scripted point of view, but it's meant to stop a seizure from happen.

Never heard of it but I found this:

"Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with valproate. Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:

Clonazepam because the risk of seizures may be increased

Benzodiazepines (eg, diazepam), felbamate, or salicylates (eg, aspirin) because they may increase the risk of valproate's side effects."

Thanks for you input.  I read that certain meds can increase the side effects on the leaflet that come with the bottle. Was wondering if it would stop benzo seizures.  I know its given to people on certain antipsychotics to prevent a seizure from occurring. And was told it can prevent a seizure from stopping benzo suddenly.  This wasn't said from a doctor etc. But from someone about to go on clonazepam doctor script after being on other benzo. I guess its different for case to case.

Come across a couple of bottles and wanted to know if the worst case scenario happened and you run out of meds for whatever reason. Whether sodium valproate would work. Suppose if that ever happens I will find out if its true or not.  Either way your going to be in a bad situation.

@Nikolas- agree with your warning about sodium valproate but I want to add a warning about the carbamazepine you referenced  - a medication which has specific uses - epilepsy, trigeminal neuralgia  - useful when carefully monitored by an MD involved in the patient's care, knowing all of the rx'd and non rx'd meds being used - reacts adversely with many classes of meds and to my knowledge (med school was a long time ago!) not useful for alleviating benzo or opiate WD symptoms.  I have actually seen two cases of Stevens Johnson syndrome/toxic epidermal necrolysis in patients of Asian ancestry with confirmed HLA-B1 502 allele.  **You noted medicine and pharmacology as interests!! I'll cease and desist now

Welcome to our wonderful, supportive forum and look forward to your further participation.

Well i've been taking some valporat not had any negative side effects after trying for 4 days whilst using di@Z. Might try it if I have to one day for wd seizure prevention .  Seems like anything thing you do or use will have a risk attached. This is what benzo are about.

No Depakote will not help with withdrawal seizures from Alp. Best way is to save a few Alps and Ween off of them. Diaz is also a good way to prevent seizures when withdrawing from Alps or even Clonaz.

  15. D @ drdrizzy13: Yeah it was definitely a hold. Can't blame the refs for calling it. But I've seen many sketchy calls in the past to help the spread or over/under lol.
  16. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: Wonder how much money was impacted by that last touchdown and holding call back. The refs were flirting with the over/under payoffs… that flag either cost a lot people some money or won them a bunch. But I guess you can’t say it was a bad call, just a very impactful one.
  17. shoutback @ shoutback: Fucking A nfl season is over :( Those were by and far the best teams this season. That Elite D will just stifle mofos. And ya gotta give Darnold his flowers for taking care of the football. That was professional.
  18. M @ meepmoopmeep: Too bad that football season is over now
  19. M @ meepmoopmeep: Seahawks offense left more to be desired (esp during first half) but patriots offense was just abysmal. A win is a win though. Squawk squawk!
