Hello friends. My doctor started giving me 25 mg Topamax for my headaches. Can anyone give me some information about this drug? Good or bad. Thanks.

It's kind of a weird one. Originally it was an antiseizure med. Now it's used to treat migraines, sleep walking and some other sleep issues (seen it used for ptsd nightmares), and bipolar disorder. Doctors like to prescribe this one. My boyfriend, my dad, and I have all been on it at one time or another. Didn't do a anything for my migraines but my dad swears by it for his nightmares.

i I was prescribed topamax for bipolar disorder because the meds I was on had caused so much weight gain so the topamax was a hopeful alternative that would help me lose weight. After 2 weeks I lost 20 pounds but it affected me really badly mentally. I started feeling very off in my thoughts and even though its an anti seizure med, it actually made my seizure disorder worse to where I started having auras and lobe seizures. By the second week the schizophrenic homeless woman who rented her storage unit with us started making perfect sense to me and her and I could sit and have long conversations that my husband told me made no sense. Just a bunch of psycho babble. I wanted to lose weight so bad but not at the cost of my sanity so I got off of it immediately. Im very sensitive to meds. I can't take most things and stuff affects me weird so dont let my story scare you. I have known a few people whove taken it for milder disorders and done very well. I will definitely say this tho. Communication is absolutely necessary when taking a new med. Call your dr if you notice anything off. Write down any side effects and make a list of any changes good or bad and if its not urgent make sure to bring this to your next apt. Sometimes the dosage needs to be adjusted but your dr won't know if thats necessary unless you communicate. Good luck.

  12. L @ Layne_Cobain: @maoi thanks for the input tho I think I’d def go the route of using hcg if I do go w TrT
  13. L @ Layne_Cobain: @maoi nah no fear of needles and if it made me feel a lot better no fear of being on it long term as who knows if my t will even rebound after 5 years on methadone not sure if that’s the norm I hope so…the more I research the more it seems like the best choice is to just go for it with TrT rather than trying to “middle” with Enclomiphene especially now that i know it probably won’t work being on methadone altho I am tapering off 5 mg biweekly so that’ll take a while I’m at 95 now from 120
  14. moai @ moai: @Layne_Cobain the longer you’re on it without using HCG sometimes, (meaning years) the harder it will be to rebound if you do come off. But I’m with you, at only 22, I’ve abused myself to the point I may NEED trt. Not to mention all of the benefits
  15. moai @ moai: @Layne_Cobain You don’t seem it, but if you are the type that’s afraid of needles for life, don’t sweat it. I’m natty atm, but from what I hear A) you won’t want to come off and B) if you implement HCG every once in a while to your protocol, you have a better chance of being able to come off T completely and restore all (or most) of your natty production. Of course, no guarantees and it is dependent on the individual, genetics, compounds and duration of exposure, etc.
  16. L @ Layne_Cobain: @tiquanunderwood when you began the Enclomiphene, were you already off opiates? Cause after further research I don’t think it’ll even work while still on methadone…I think trt with hcg to preserve fertility and ball size is the way to go for me. I just wanna feel better. Thanks for your input on the matter btw
