ups tracking says by end of day, it's 5pm!

I got  a tracking number that says my letter will be delivered by the end of day today. I'm not sure what that means exactly, but It's a UPS 2day air mail and the tracking meter is filled up to "in transit" but not yet to "out for delivery". Is this familiar to anyone or is this unusual? Also I was wondering if there is a 2 day mail option on UPS that guarantees morning to noon delivery? thanks!
