I just went to a pain management Dr for the first time. my mri shows i have a herniated disc. I told the Dr I have been talking ibuprofen and it has not been working and I asked him for something for pain. He said anything stronger then the ibuprofen would be narcotic and he doesn't want to give me that at this point. He wants to try a epidural shot first. If the epidural shot does not work what narcotic pain medication will he most likely start me on and what dose ?

youll  probably start off real low, like lorcets or percocets with oxycontin 20s maybe, you not just gonna go straight to roxy 30s and oc 80s

Depends on how well you can bs the doc! Now if you are legit they usually ask you a pain scale dontest then go from there?

You are going to have to follow what they want you do and if that is steroid injections then try that first.  If you don't jump thru their hoops they won't prescribe any pain meds.  I had neck surgery and had two disks in my neck replaced and I had to follow their protocol.

I see pain management on the 28th. I really am hoping a few shots and and a very low dose of opiates to take only as needed will be all I need. I don't want to be on a daily opiate regiment again.

  12. shoutback @ shoutback: I think when we have open discourse without preconceptions we all agree more than we disagree
  13. D @ drdrizzy13: Oh I totally agree and I agree the War on Drugs was and is a complete failure.
  14. shoutback @ shoutback: I'm not trying to say my point of view is better than others, just think we need to have more open and honest discussion about everything
  15. D @ drdrizzy13: You are right it probably doesn't. It has pretty much ruined my other first cousins live. He is so out there. It just sucks to see ya know. They take it to the extreme.
  16. shoutback @ shoutback: @drdrizzy13 your exoerience does not reflect the overall mainstream
  17. D @ drdrizzy13: yea for sure.
  18. shoutback @ shoutback: This is one of the few places in the internet where we can freely discuss this things and taking reactive stance like fentanyl and zenes are the devil do not promote a heathy discourse on the subject, though I understand admin also does not want to be under constant threat of people like the dea and fda
  19. D @ drdrizzy13: Honestly I can't think of any alcohoclis except for a friends Dad. I haven't drank in 10 years. I don't really hang around peole that drink or go to bars. I just hate being around drunks lol. And going to bars sucks if your not drinking too.
  20. shoutback @ shoutback: We don't work on something and do not continue developing with developing safeguards and appropriate treatment methods we adapt to what we learn. How many people do you know with alcohol addictions ? How many violent rapes and murders do we see happen under someone under the influence of alcohol yet alcohol is not demonized in the way fentanyl is and that affects much less people. Let's not be hypocritical. The prohibition model does not work and this is no place where we should be promoting it
