what happens if you sent mail and it returns to sender?

question: if i sent mail and gave a bogus return address, and mail is undeliveredable what happens if they try to return it to sender? i used a phony name and street address for me , but i paid at front counter with usps worker?  i checked tracking and it said "BUSINES CLOSED, WILL ATTEMPT ON NEXT BUSINESS DAY' than some message about if after 15days something it gets sent back to sender? since i used a fake return, they can just destroy it or burn it? or they actually open it?

If the return address is completely fake I believe they can open it. I'm not 100% but I believe fake addresses void it's constitutional protection. I've always been taught to never ever use a fake return address, even if it is the local best buy. Unless it is something bad or more than an oz of bud it will probably go to dead mail. There are 2 huge centers where all the undeliverable/nonreturnable mail goes and people cAn try and claim it. Not sure how that works or what they do with it at that point.

You have two more weeks of delivery attempts, so don't get too nervous yet. But next time use a local hotel or something for return address.
