Why did a vendor use 2 different bitcoin addys?

I messed up my first order and so they switched the addy when I made a duplicate order. I know some vendors hate duplicate orders and was selectively scammed recently.

I'm worried the different Addy was to single me out for selective scamming. I checked the Addy and my payment was the only one going to the secondary one.

Maybe I'm just paranoid

You’re being paranoid. It would make no sense that they’d decide to scam you just because you had to send a second set of funds. If they were going to scam you, they’d scam you regardless of how many times you had to send the coins.

Many custodial wallets will generate new wallet addresses after each previous one is used. It’s a way to maintain OPSEC and minimize linking tx’s back to one central place.

Dear Mate,

There’s no need to worry about this. As a vendor, I provide a different Bitcoin address for each order to all my clients, whether they’re in the USA or worldwide. This is solely for security purposes, and nothing else. So just relax and enjoy!

Stay happy!

  2. A @ AnnaSofia: @Cheesus Welcome to the board. Before you ask for recommendations, go to the Forum Rules in the threads under the welcome section on front page. There is a sub-section in that thread called “rules of the road” with important tips for navigating this place and increasing odds for good outcomes.
  3. BraveLittleToaster @ BraveLittleToaster: @Cheesus yes always use PGP if you can find their key. Some might block you for sending email without it. You are using proton right?
  4. C @ Cheesus: really glad I got around to subscribing/sponsoring here, seems like a really great community
  5. C @ Cheesus: I'll try following up with them with their PGP public key, if mentioned- guess if there's no reply theyre not looking for any new clients
  6. C @ Cheesus: whoops, sorry I didn't mean to repost the same thing there! And thank you
  7. C @ Cheesus: [when I said suspicious, I meant of me, as they are clearly very well regarded here]
  8. BraveLittleToaster @ BraveLittleToaster: @Cheesus There really ain't that much to it. Ask them if you have questions. Lots of magazine vendors have directions on how to subscribe, follow the directions and you're good to go.

  10. C @ Cheesus: most everyone has been super nice and accomodating though! no complaints. just not clear how to email a new magazine purveyor
  11. C @ Cheesus: hi everyone, was just wondering if someone could point me the right direction for making my first few magazine subscriptions. Pretty new here, though def not new to the scene. Got one reply tha seemed.... very suspicious, to put it one way, and now I'm not sure whether I did something stupid or what. Really dont want to blow my chance to get some of a particular obscure-ish RC

  20. drjimmy1964 @ drjimmy1964: @AnnaSofia yes I recall you mentioning it, but I wasn't sure if you were only one to see - thus - I am only one to see my doubles. Weird. I wonder why only a few people see it - at least it seems that way. OK thanks - I don't want to clog up the shoutbox, I probably should have DM you. .
