Greetings,

You may know me about the guy who was on an insane amount of Xanax and Klonopin on a daily basis and managed to get off...well unfortunately I relapsed after some serious series of events but I will be quitting once more.

Opening this thread because I have severe chronic pain in multiple spots that I cannot handle that pain in anymore. I'm taking pain medicine daily (Perks/Morphies) to treat the pain, perks when it's not too bad but I struggle and morphies when it's a 10/10 pain level.

I don't know when I'll be off these...so can someone with pain experience let me know what road I should expect? I know addiction is one of them, but is there anything else I should know as a new person to chronic pain and heavy pain medication?

Thanks

-VII

Based on what you're already taking, my guess is that constipation could already be a frustrating factor in your daily life.  Daily stool softeners are a wise addition to a medication regime that includes daily opiates.  Have read some reports on Bluelight from men where they wait a week or two or even three before tending to the problem, and when movement finally does arrive, these men describe an excruciating experience similar to birthing a baby.

Thank you for your advice and assistance. I was completely unaware, I am having issues urinating but my stool seems to be okay-- occasionally it's harder to "go" than usual but it's not too bad if I just run some water in the background.

I'll look into the stool softener because I probably already need it. But is is honestly as bad as people claim it to be? Reminder, I'm new to all of this.

I have some experience of strong opiates, having been given seven boxes of Morphine for £5 earlier this year. The guy was older and didn't use them. I can't remember about toilet troubles from that time, or much else for that matter.

However, even codeine and DHC can make me constipated for a week/week and a half. It's not pleasant.

@DippityDoo 's advice seems very sensible.

Hi @VII. I have plenty of long term opi treatment and can second what @DippityDoo said about constipation. The difficulty urinating isn't unusual either. Make sure to drink plenty of water, and you may want to avoid alcohol. Drinking and pks aren't safe and your liver will thank you.

Talk to your doc if constipation or urine retention becomes a problem. There is a med out now specifically for op induced constipation. Movantik is one of them.

Good luck my friend and may I suggest having a back up plan in case something happens with your current provider. Chronic pain is no joke, but with the right treatment, most people can go on to live a good life.

Thank you both above for you your advice and support. I will be keeping all of this in mind, I just really needed advice from experienced users that knew about long-term PK use due to chronic pain.

No problem. These guys know more than me, I am more knowledgeable about benzos.

I hope things improve for you and you're able to live a decent life.

(Out of likes, sorry)

Try to break your weeks up by stopping the pills and switch to kratom then going back to pills. It worked for me and somehow avoided withdrawal even on the days I had nothing. Just my 2 cents

I would ask dr to get off of the percs and go to a straight oxycodone which does not have the acetaminophen in it.

You dont really need that ingredient, it was put in initially as it was thought to boost the pain relief with the oxy. It does slightly for some, nothing for others.  It used to be 500 mg added acetaminophen, but was lowered to 325 per tablet because it is extremely hard on the liver which may help explain the difficulty urinating.

You can get 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40 and 80 mg straight generic oxycodone prescribed.
