I am on Methadone through my pain Dr as an XR medication with no current breakthrough meds. I end up using my own break thru meds and have had various luck with the effectiveness of them which also seems to correlate to the amount of daily methadone I'm on at the time. I will go into more detail later but wanted upstart this thread so I remember to get a discussion going. Anyone here on methadone for pain control and using a breakthrough IR med? If so what at what dose and how much does it really help??

My momma cat was on 40 mg wafers and had to take 20 mg of _____  to get help with breakthrough. After the first couple of times, even 20 mg for breakthrough did nothing. :(  i think methadone is the devil. momma cat lost weight and halted taking methadone to help lose the weight, she had bad withdrawals only XAnaX would control and ______ for pain.

I was on methadone (between 40-80mg/day) for 6-7 years and it essentially made it impossible to get much if any relief from anything else. it's also hell getting off - worst of the worst opioid to kick

i was on 260 mg of methadone a day, its a terrible drug,  Stay the hell away, much easier to come of PK'S than to come of methadone!  it was the worst experience of my life and took me almost 3 months to feel normal again>

I was up too 100mg and I'm now down to 40 and been holding here for a while. I have found something for break through pain that worked on both methadone and suboxone, but is hard to come by. Yes i said suboxone and yes it was strong enough to even over power it. Yes I know how it works and I shit you not. It is a spray and it starts with f, spray in your nose. I've followed you here and I think on another site. If I'm correct in that you are very knowledgeable and I appreciate the things I've learned from you. I haven't gotten this product for a while but I'm trying to obtain now from my old source. If I'm successful I'll def let you know the details.

Jeez 260mls @whitetailhunter that is SOME amount of m/done!!.

No wonder you felt terrible for months,I was sure there was a ceiling dose with done and I thought it was around 120-140mls ?.I've been on and off m/done for over 20yrs but the highest of any of my script was 60mls.I just didn't want to go too high as I know how hard a med it is to kick?.

Peace

Bliss.....

How long were you on that dose for?  Was it a 5/10ml mdone for  1ml mixture or tabs?  If it's 1ml for 1ml that's  of juice to drink.

The taper must of took a while,

Not only that if it 1ml 1mg and liquid like in the uk that's A LOT of that horrible stuff to chug down!!!.

Here in the states, at least where in from they mix 1ml to 10mg so it's not so much to get down. I'm on 40mg so I get only 4ml. As far as the topic at hand no pain medication seems to work as well. I've tried a lot but not all. Tramadol ex strengthe def does nothing.  Perking and Vikings not much either. I was able to obtain some fent@nol patches last night and they helped but still didn't get the feeling normally associated with theses.  I went easy they were 25 and I only put on 6. I haven't tried oc or rock gear or pandas so I unfortunately cannot speak for these. I was able to obtain a little while back methadone tablets, I can't remember if they were 5 or 10 but they seemed to be much stronger then the solution, and by I mean they over powered the solution nearly right away and the good feeling lasted all day. Sorry if I went to far there mods I tried to choose my words carefully. Hope this helps, I'm always here to help where and when I can. Peace.
