Mine is from the Japanese film "Battle Royale", a favourite film of mine.

Was tempted to use my Gmail avatar - anti-smokers beware!

It was @DippityDoo who said she really liked my name so she started posting names of pandas in every thread i posted in. So i asked her if i could resize one of them and use as my avatar.

@ElectroNymph Battle Royale is genius btw. It's one of those films i wish would never end.

I love the Union flag, it's the most recognisable flag on the planet, appears on dozens of other flags in the upper left canton in either a former colony or current overseas territory. It even appears on Hawaiis state flag due to when we had brief possession of the islands in the 18th century. I belive it's appears on the coat of arms, or equivalent, of some US cities/towns (pre- 1801 Union flag, without the St Patricks cross.) The lion (and the unicorn, Scotland)  are our national symbols, or one of anyway. Iove heraldry, flags,  and my country.

Yep the union flag. Only called that on land. Its Union Jack at sea. Always hear people say the latter on land.

Spot on, Union jack only when flown from Jackstaff on one of Her majesty's Ships. To be honest though, people just say union jack all the time nowadays!!!!!! Yeah, the Red St Patricks cross is slightly slanted, and the white of the St Andrews cross should sit above the red St Patricks cross on the staff side. Flown upside down at sea in times gone by is said to have been considered a sign of distress

Story behind new avatar! Not a Monarchist, love Bowie, so putting the Aladdin Sane (Not Ziggy, often confused) lightening bolt on her face, shows my distain for the Monarchy, love for Bowie and a hint that I'm British.
