I have to go to the post office and show my id to pick up my mail. I have 3 envelopes from the philippines that are regular sized envelopes. I lost my key to my po box and must show my id to get my mail. Isnt it against the law for them to open up and check the contentents after they have gone through customs?

I don't know what the law is but it's very unlikely that they would open your mail. I have picked up packages that were rattling like crazy and nobody seemed to care but me.

@Partyboy   It is against the law to open your mail.   To  open your mail they would need to get the postal inspector involved and he/she would have to get a search warrant.   If your pack made it this far, chances are really good that it is ok.  People at the local level really don't care whats in the package and just want to do their job and go home like the rest of us....

Only private companies can open packages at will......Thats why some shippers prefer to use the shipper you are referring too!!

Hope it all worked out OK.

I rec'd a package that was visibly opened at the end, large enough so that all contents could be seen, and it evidently wasn't done at a customs site (I'm guessing this because there were no attempts to repair it).  However, 100 percent of expected gifts were indeed still in package....go figure!

  8. L @ Layne_Cobain: Yes the mars almond was in a white-ish wrapper
  9. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: Oh god! Way too much nuance and variation between Mars, Milky Way, and 3 musketeers. There’s was a special mars that had almond. A Mars bar from the UK is closer to a snickers than a traditional mars. What a rabbit hole though.

  12. L @ Layne_Cobain: Anyone remember mars bars? I remember as a kid going over to my grandpas he’d keep them in the freezer we’d get there and go right for them haha so good think had almonds in them probably similar to a snickers almond
  13. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: Okay, somehow I missed putting my two cents in during the chocolate discussion. The big near-half-pound slab of Hersheys Symphony bar with the BLUE label is hands down the best mainstream chocolate bar in America. You folks over across the pond kill it with Cadbury’s and I won’t deny it’s the best but those damn blue symphonies have me hooked.
