Help with depression

~ Suicide takes away your pain, but then gives it to the ones you love the most. ~

Doesnt make me mad. Just sad.
That's what I think it would be hard on family and friends . I think it would be different if you had no one. You got it spot on with that quote.

Condolences to the member who lost someone.

Venlafaxine has been the most effective for me. It doesn't have any sedative or addictive effects either.

I still think that anti-psychotics would help also. Given my propensity to paranoia, flashbacks and similar illnesses.

Cit@l0pram is the one i'm on, that is an SSRI. Though i've recently been given one more, m1@nserinhydr0kl0rid, which is a TeCA and NaSSA, that i'm not sure i need. There are so many antidepressants out there now tho (it's a jungle) that if @ajmorgan99 would be able to convince her friend to take one, that friend should seek out his doctor (my impression tho is that GPs don't know a whole lot more about antidepressants than people with a history of mental illness who have taught themselves about it, but this may be just my experience). So a psychiatrist would be even better as they're the specialists concerning this, to determine what antidepressant best suits him.

@ElectroNymph Venlaf@xine is a SNRI which means, in short, that it works with norepinephrine and seratonin both, the same way an SSRI works with seratonin. My SSRI doesn't have addictive or sedative effects either, but withdrawal can be very tough. But if you have problems with paranoia and flashbacks it could indicate you should get an an anti-psychotic. I would advice you to seek out your doctor, just make sure it isn't contra-indicated with all the other stuff you take as many of them don't work well with other drugs.

Thanks, Panda. I am just waiting for some expert help with my meds.

Citalopram was the drug I was on previously. It helped slighty, but was not very effective. Still, some meds are better for certain conditions than others.

i'm having trouble getting enough Remeron (Mirtazapine) I've look & looked but can't find any one offering it. Any help greatly appreciated ty Rxpro999000-

@mandraxx You brought up a very good point. Pain either physical, mental or both can bring You too a breaking point. I think it's good of You to care enough, to suggest that any one in that dire of a situation, to reach out & not do any thing not thought through or just to stop the hurting..I too have issues getting enough Remeron. So I'm on here. Rxpro-

@Yoko -- Hi there! I actually took Wellbutrin several years back. I had good success with it. One of the things that I liked about it was it didn't have the side effects that some antidepressant meds can have. Here in the USA it's been on the market for years which is good because that means that it's been used by many people and if there were any bad side effects they would have come out by now. I'm always leery of Brand New drugs that are put on the market that haven't had long-term testing by people.

In the USA Wellbutrin is also prescribed to help people quit smoking. It helps reduce the craving for tobacco. My father was prescribed Wellbutrin to help him quit smoking and it worked well for him.

Since your doctor prescribed it for you I think you would have good success with it. If you have any other questions about it please don't hesitate to ask. I'll be glad to help in any way I can. Have a GREAT Day! :)

Mirtazipine will make you hungry all day. There were days where I would eat until my stomach hurt. Unless you feel too depressed to eat, personally, I would ask for something else.

That's lovely put. I used to have thoughts like these since I was 12 years old. 15 years later I asked everyone not to contact me anymore, because seeing friends was somehow too much for me. After 4 years not having talked to anybody, I said to myself, now you're free, take the next step. It turned out that I am so anxious, when I stepped on windowsill, I lost conscience, fell backwards and felt ashamed of myself. Later, I tried it with a knife and with broken glass, but it's pretty difficult to hurt oneself. I was glad when police came by and called an ambulance, because blood was everywhere, it was just the final cut that I was too cowardly to make. I don't think that anyone would miss me, actually, I don't even think they would find out. Who should tell them?

I was depressed few years back. I tried finding medicines online but I can't buy them without prescription. I don't like to see a doctor as I'm not sure what to say. Glad I overcame the sadness with regular meals and adequate sleep.

I'm very glad you're doing better, but be careful not to confuse sadness/world-objectively-sucking/general poor self-care with actual depression.  Right now, people are dying by the thousands because our government lied and keeps lying, the West is burning, cities elsewhere are burning, millions and millions are out of work, and that's all just a tip of an iceberg (which is probably melting due to climate change...).  In short, a bunch of stuff in the world objectively sucks right now.  I recently had a death in my family, so I'm rationally and appropriately sad.  I was visiting home this week, so I haven't been working out, eating well, or sleeping well.  Sertraline and lamotrigine are life-saving drugs for me right now, but they also were life-saving drugs 8 years ago when nothing was ablaze, the now-dead walked, finances were immaterial, and I was a model of healthy living.

Feeling sad/down is like a sunburn.  It happens, it sucks, and you can/should do stuff to make it better feel better and see a doctor if you're unduly worried.  Depression is like skin cancer.  It can be related to/triggered by/whatever (I'm not an oncologist) a sunburn, but not everyone who gets a sunburn will get cancer, it requires professional medical intervention, and it really can be a matter of life and death.  You also shouldn't rely on random internet meds, forum advice (mine aside), or home/folk remedies for skin cancer.

P.S. As an aside, elsewhere on this website, you might be able to source Rx drugs without a valid prescription.  As noted above, though, I discourage this.

really though... it's very true. the world sucks, it's out of your hands (mostly), and you have to take care of yourself and respect yourself. you are the only thing you really have any sort of actual control over

I found out of all the therapies I tried, CBT was the most effective... You've gotta work at it and do your homework in finding the right therapist... I went through 4 different ones before I found a person I was comfortable enough to share my shit with, but once I found them it did help me quite a lot at the time... But like LBgirl has already said, it can be trying!! You've gotta face your fears, almost embrace them, until they stop controlling you and the way you think..

I didn't go for depression per se, I went as a treatment for OCD and panic disorder, but ultimately it led me to a state of depression, so I guess the outcome and coping strategies I learnt would be as helpful to you as they were to me?.. You do have to do a lot of your own work between sessions and the answers aren't cut and dry, but I did come out with some valuable coping mechanisms which I still use to this day...

In my personal experience anti depressants are a treatment that if could be avoided, should be... However, that's not to say that other people's experiences won't be different.. I personally know lots and lots of people that have benefited greatly from anti depressants... Just for me, they come with too many side effects, some more unbearable than my initial condition?!..

And from what I can glean from your initial post, I get the impression you would prefer going down the more holistic route... So, yes, therapy will definitely help... Along with good friends, excercise and maybe even a bit of meditation/yoga...

But most of all, and the hardest thing I personally find to do, be kind to yourself : )

I know this post is from years ago, but I also battle OCD and anxiety.
I’ve had it since I was 7 years old.
I think many don’t realize how debilitating OCD can be.
I’m in therapy, and I take Clomapramine and Lamictal.
But, OCD still disrupts my daily life.

  1. xenxra @ xenxra: also, to that effect, i'm a bit behind on the whole C/R situation, that being said - this is the first time in 16 months that the market pulled back and C did not DM me on telegram about it.
  2. xenxra @ xenxra: i want to apologize to the people on here for my calls about the market moving up three days before the crash. the crash we had was essentially a black swan (i.e. an accident) and as is the very nature of "accidents", they usually cannot be accounted for beforehand. a LOT of people got wiped out on that move but I do think we still push for new highs across the board sooner than later as long as Bitcoin stays above $105k.
  3. O @ oh be g: And I agree w u shit happens
  4. O @ oh be g: @finger just to be clear I am not accusing any one of anything just replying to another post explaining how just like any other biz drop shipping exists
  5. Finger-of-God @ Finger-of-God: Thats why we just make sure to always have inventory and never go past the inventory. makes us have skin in the game.... that said sometimes shit happens we get hella orders and have to process 600 orders after a busy weekend and it might take us a week to catch up. so maybe thats all he is dealing with?
  6. Finger-of-God @ Finger-of-God: ooph. i hate to hear the scam word tossed around. sometimes people end up having shit happen...like making a bad move in business, doesnt mean they scammed but that they just fucked up some how.
  7. O @ oh be g: That being said, be careful. There was a period of time of new vendors who exit scam after sending “samples”. So I woould trust your gut and intuition ”
  8. O @ oh be g: @meep that’s always been the case, u will see vendors w the exact same menu. Part of the game.
