Tipping?

I'm a bit confused by this. The package sender is often not the order taker so why tip? I think they are making enough, without us sending extra. In fact, they are making a killing or wouldn't be in business.

Agreed. Tipping someone who is making a killing off of you in the first place seems utterly pointless.

Looking to bring the topic of tipping vendors up once again since a lot has changed over the years.

I've come across a couple of vendors recently who have an option to tip when checking out. Curious what the norm is. If you tip your vendors, how much do you leave them?

Personally, if I've made a mistake or something, I'll throw in extra for being a pain in the a$$.

It's always courteous to tip someone who's on the grind, especially if they've proven dependable down the line, however it should never be an obligation.

Usually I tend to tip folks who I know are not making that much in wages. For folks who are self-employed and they are the one providing the service, I usually assume that they've priced in whatever they need, so I tend not to unless it becomes apparent that they are really scrambling to make ends meet.

For larger businesses I'm more reluctant as it's probably gonna be pocketed by the folks who need it the least.

It'll vary from person to person but it should always be at your discretion. I would put in a tad extra as a rule to cover any fluctuations in the value of currency.

I look at it the same way I look at tipping at a coffee shop. Generally the first time I try somewhere new I'll tip the person serving me a few bucks. I'm not tipping them because I got outstanding service, I'm tipping them because it creates an unspoken agreement between me and the barista that they'll give me outstanding service. Baristas and publishers are very similar- you're tipping for services not yet received, and I think that's where the uncertainty comes from.

After I get my coffee I can judge it against the coffees I've had from different coffee shops. If I'm satisfied, I'll come back for more and tip the barista heavier, with the unspoken agreement my coffee will be of at least the same quality as the last cup. If I'm not satisfied, I go back to a familiar coffee shop where I have a good history.

I the to tip a flat 20% base on all orders with payment (with no expectations of anything in return, I make that clear) when I pay before I even get an item, even with new vendors. It fluctuates from there (only upwards) if I stay with that vendor depending on service but is never less than 20%. I also Send random gratuity between orders to certain ones and usually send gratuity on holidays to all long standing vendors of mine. It’s never not been worth it, and let’s be honest, this is a service industry, and a highly specialized one in which the burden of risk is far greater on them than this a client. You tip in other service industries so why wouldn’t you tip in a highly specialized one that carries greater risk for the business? Basic rule of being a good human, whatever you put out into the universe, good or bad, your likely to get back.

Chances are most of you’s are probably overpaying to begin with. Tip away I suppose. To each their own

Lotta operations aren’t a 1 man band, so you’re prob just giving away money to the case worker that collects payments and communicates lol

But nah on the flip side if it’s somebody you been dealing with for like a year plus who’s always done you right and went outta their way, I don’t mind rounding up the BTC/XMR with the send off by a little. For a long standing relationship, especially if you’re on the level where they let you buy now pay later, samples, etc

If you go around just tipping anyone and everyone every time you buy, you’re a fucking sucker 😂

As stated, 7 years tipping in a specialized service industry has gotten me nothing but respect, gratitude , and actions backing up those sentiments, no scams yet. Only great relationships that I can verify here on this forum or the markets or elsewhere. Tipping in a specialized service industry that carries much greater risk to the vendor, if & when you have the means to do so, is just basic “decent human” behavior.

I tip all humans regardless of age race religion color or any other factor, including occupation, especially when I’m seeking out the service they provide via that occupation. Your truly looking down on the people you beg for drugs from?. If you take issue with drug dealers, you should let your vendor know how little you think of them, that they’re less deserving humans, let me know how that works out for you.

You done yet? 🥱

Can’t tell if you’re trying to convince me or yourself at this point 😂😂

I pay the price on the price list and it works out fine

Virtue signal and boot-licking harder bruh. It gets us all so hot this late at nite 🥰
I didn’t say pay the price, I said tell them you think you’re above them, better than them. Try that and get back to me.

I’m a woman, merely stating that I treat all humans equally, it’s concerning you take issue with that.

Curious where I even said that lol

I already said I don’t mind tossing a little extra if they really earn it, looks like your premium reading comprehension missed that part. Maybe lay off the product?

Go ahead, I’ll let you have the last word since that’s def the kind of person you are 🤡🤡

In your very first comment to me berating me, speaking as though you’re better than everyone else. To my comment stating i literally simply treat all humans with equal respect regardless of age race religion OR occupation. You disagreed and made your beliefs clear regarding vendors (and everyone else apparently) being below you and unworthy of respect

I usually round up, but not by that much. As someone else mentioned here, if one of my orders becomes a hassle, I might send extra their way as a gesture. I simply can't afford to consistently give a vendor 20%+ in tips.

There are a handful who stand out for being kind, having exceptional service, and offering competitive prices. I don't mind rewarding outstanding service from time to time. The same can be said for in person magazine shops. If someone looks out for me, I will look out for them.

Many people work difficult jobs but struggle to earn enough to make ends meet. In contrast, vendors set their own prices. Most vendors overcharge quite a bit, and then there are some who have shipping fees that I could never justify paying. Those ones already added in their tip x20.

I understand tipping occasionally, especially when you've got a good long-term relationship going, but at the end of the day, they're still making a significant profit off of you—whether you tip or not. The amount varies depending on the vendor, volume of mags being sold and the type of reading material.

To each their own.

I just did this. Help people that help you. It's not just good business but also good karma. I bump up for people I use often because u never know when something won't transfer over a buck and s half....

Unless they are f¥cky or vibey in some way. Or asking for that matter I'm not opposed to it whatsoever. Whoever that dude was from 2019 was must have been Canadian

  1. P @ psychedpsych: Have good day people, and I hate texting messages lol
  2. B @ bigblueallda: @drjimmy1964 lol I am actually surprised it is a real ID. I needed those documents because my license had been expired for over a year and I had to start all over. Nothing was in the system. It was a huge mess. I had no clue I was signing up for Real ID. They asked me for the exact same documents that I needed for a State ID Card.
  3. S @ soupson: bless your heart buddy. no sense of grammar or proper insults/jokes. you need this place in ways i can’t comprehend
  4. drjimmy1964 @ drjimmy1964: Sweet Ol' Me asked about Real ID, Stoup. Are you responsive to emails ? LMAO
  5. drjimmy1964 @ drjimmy1964: I smell some Stoup. Is Stoup's on ?
  6. drjimmy1964 @ drjimmy1964: @bigblueallda You win. I am lost. Thought you were surprised your license was a Real ID, now you say you provided those items.
  7. drjimmy1964 @ drjimmy1964: @bigblueallda I was under the impression that you'd need all of the points to get a real ID . I'd check it's validity if you're gonna fly domestic any time soon, just to make sure. Not to tell you what to do, sorry -
  8. B @ bigblueallda: @drjimmy1964 In my state to get a Real ID, I need SS card, Birth Certificate and two proofs of residency. Which I am positive I had to provide to get a new ID when it had been expired.
  9. drjimmy1964 @ drjimmy1964: @Turbo259 advertising - putting in writing for example an negative action to show they are guilty prior to taking action.
  10. B @ bigblueallda: I haven't flown in an airplane in 20 years lol. Can't recall the last government building I have been in either. According to the symbol it tells me I should have on my ID to make it a Real ID I do have one in my state
  11. Gracie5 @ Gracie5: Hey @CuCeltic99!
  12. drjimmy1964 @ drjimmy1964: @Turbo259 advertising - putting in writing for example an negative action to show they are guilty prior to taking action.
  13. drjimmy1964 @ drjimmy1964: @bigblueallda are you sure you have a Real ID ? I mean , they really want 6 points of proof and 1 for your addy and 1 for your SSN. Did you maybe get it done and forgot and flew out of the country or something ?
  14. drjimmy1964 @ drjimmy1964: @bigblueallda are you sure you have a Real ID ? I mean , they really want 6 points of proof and 1 for your addy and 1 for your SSN. Did you maybe get it done and forgot and flew out of the country or something ?
  15. S @ soupson: did anyone ask about real id or is sweet ol jimmy just rambling
  16. T @ Turbo259: @drjimmy1964 what did you mean by advertise? not gettin the verbiage, DM works if anything, just didnt understand
  17. B @ bigblueallda: {Visit your local Driver Service Bureau with the necessary documents: original birth certificate, Social Security card, and two proofs of your state's residency. } I definitely provided this when I had to get a new ID when i let mine go expired too long maybe I unknowingly got one but I think it is pretty standard here.
  18. B @ bigblueallda: Well it was a state id renewal. Before that there was a mixup and I had lost my birth certficate and social security number. After a couple of weeks and finally getting several documents in order I was able to get a state ID. It had been expired previously for a little too long and they wanted all kinds of proof. It was a mess. But nah I looked up what to look for an my state's ID to see if it is a Real Id or not and my card as the symbol it is supposed to have. I'll take a closer look though
  19. drjimmy1964 @ drjimmy1964: @bigblueallda are you sure you have a Real ID ? I mean , they really want 6 points of proof and 1 for your addy and 1 for your SSN. Did you maybe get it done and forgot and flew out of the country or something ?
  20. drjimmy1964 @ drjimmy1964: Actually it says "Not For Real ID Purposes". That is my 2022 renewal of my 2018 picture ID. I am not due till 2026 and I am sure they will make me go in since my pic would be 8 years old - they used to make you go in in my state for aging when I was younger, then went paper - then back to picture ( I think 9/11 to blame for that ) but relaxed it.
