Vics From 3 To 2

Wow, that's total BS about your Dad. If that was the right med for him before, it should be after. A change in schedule should not change what's medically necessary. Either the doc was inappropriately prescribing them before or is inappropriately stopping them now. Can't have it both ways.

I'm a little concerned at how my doc will react, but he's a PM specialist that already writes a ton of CII anyhow. I'm hoping the only change will be that I'll have to go in once every three months instead of once every six months. I also hope that I can get a 90 day supply at once (like I do with my CII ADHD meds), but based on that article, it looks like docs will have the option of scripting a 90 day supply and control how it's dispensed, essentially making it function like a refill.
Hello Mr.Crowley. Thank you for responding. My dad is a very active 83yr. old who doesn't even like to take the medication but he has had bad knees for years. The nurse didn't say that it was the schedule change that caused this to happen. But I don't think it's a coincidence. She said the doctor wants him to see the ortho. doctor & have them make the decision. My dad goes back for a visit in mid Oct. & he's going to speak directly to the doctor as to why he was so abruptly cut off. He's never abused it or anything & he didn't have the slightest bit of withdrawl when he ran out. In this particular area all the doctors are very careful now with prescribing the pain medications. The new law only made it worse for pain patients to get the help they so badly need.

Hi Binky,

I agree, that is totally unacceptable treatment of your dad but all he can do is accept it.  Really stinks.  I am hoping that this is just a move by his doc to get the paperwork set up (i.e., visit to an ortho) to justify their continued scripting to your Dad.  Sometimes it's just a process to get the files in order in case of an audit.

Let's hope.  Doubt there is any other solution for your Dad this late in the game.  Do let us know in this thread of the outcome.  (I say this thread as I have still not learned how to seek and find on this board.)

I recently asked my doc to drop me from 4 norcos to 3.  I guess that was good timing.  I am struggling a bit with the drop but hate being dependent on these stupid pills.  My pain spike this summer was brutal but seems to have calmed down due to an extensive month + of alternative treatments.

I am glad that you are aok with your doc, in that he already dealt with this schedule change.

Happy Tuesday,

SM

Morning SpaceMatters. My dad has accepted the doctor's decision. For now. He does not want to be labeled an addict so that's why he did not try & argue with the nurse. But he is going to talk to his doctor directly in Oct. He always had a good relationship with him.I will let you know what happens then. Thank you for your empathy Space.

I too am glad that my doc continues to script me the N*rcos. He now sees me every 3 months instead of the 6 months. That's because of the scheduling change. But I can't help worrying that at any time they could stop prescribing my med.

You're doing real good going from 4 to 3 per day. I too wish I didn't need to take them. But my back & hands need that relief for now. I'm so glad that your alternative methods are helping you.
