Hi all. I have 30mg of Roxycodone. I can only tolerate 5mg at a time. I want to cut it up into 6 pieces. Will it work just in pieces as well as if I was to take a whole 5mg roxycodone? Thankyou in advance for helping me!

Hi Pokeytoe, That should work for you. Please try not to spell out the whole word of the meds, use spaces or symbols instead of spelling out the whole name.

Take care. /default_smile.png

Thank you guys and gals. Oopsie thought it was okay to mention the names on this separate forumn. Uhhgggg.....will I ever get it lol!

Another lesson learned. Ahhhh...Im so greatful for this ph app. There is so mich support on here. have a great day everyone and sending you hugs from western US!

Uhhgg. I took two 7.5's of V and my back is still aching. Getting so tired of this. Wish my pdoc wld give me what my last pdoc did (rock seas). This is why im so glad to have found this app. Ive told him the last two times I seen him that its not working and I need to be on what I was before when I lived in az. He tells me "you will b stupid and lazy if I give you that" really? Excuse me, but thats what has helped me work fulltime and go to school AND be both a mother and father to two kids. Now you tell me how I did all that by "being lazy and stupid". If anything it took pain away and gave me energy. How would you guys go about trying to convince the dr that its not fair to take me off of what was working for me for several years? Any of you have this prob?

I split them in 4th's. Just make sure you have a good pill splitter with a sharp blade. I defiantly have some tolerance but not a crazy amount. I can't take more than 15mg at a time. I'll take 7.5 and then another 7.5 if my back is bothering me. I'm not sure of the half life of Roxy. I would guess 4-5 hours.

This is a great "tread". I actually had this same question myself. I am new to the rox/ox game. Physical pain is not normally the case for me. Now..it is. Boo.

Another member was saying that box cutter blades work really well for this. Just thought I would add.

Honestly, if I had such a condescending doctor, I would find another one. I have had doctors say ridiculous things to me like that; I was never with them for long!

Since you are an RN, is there maybe a doc that you know that you could go to? Does your current doc know you are an RN? Cuz to me, that should definitely mean something.

Well probablem is I moved here a year ago. And being on medi-cal dosnt help much cuz some of these drs are real sticklers out here. My dr knows my condition and was giving me 7.5's (wich is still not what I was on before) but dosnt like giving those out so thats wen he gave me the referral. Im going to put in a request in to see a different pain management dr. Im really hoping I find a good one. I had a epidermal steroid injection in my lower back witch helped some and also four nerve blockes in my neck. Worked great for two months. Unfortunately they cant keep giving you those because it will start to break down the cartilage. I have 2 friends here that pay cash to see their pdoc fir wat I need. But man....who can afford that!!

I hear ya! Gosh, i just cant believe what your doc said to you. That is just horrible. I am so sorry you are going through such a hard time getting what u need. Xoxoxo

Well Im glad that I posted this tread then so that you may get some answers too. Pain sucks. And usually every person that has a chronic condition has most fam and friend's that try to understand. But they really don't because they are not in our shoes. But when it comes to family gatherings and social events. ..it's hard for us when our condition flares up unexpected and we have to cancel without a moment's notice. Family or friends get mad or upset. Some understand and try their very best. That's why that its very important to be a part of a support group. Especially ones that are sincere. I haven't found one here since I've moved. But this forum kind of found me /default_smile.png A blessing in disguise.

I would definitely do some research to find a new doctor in your area.  He/she should never treat you in such a demeaning way.  It may also be that the doctor does not understand the level of pain you are in.  It may be time to find a good PM doc.  Hope the pill cutter works for you!

  1. xenxra @ xenxra: @WTF7218 it may as well be that way with how little effort some of the people on here make to find information that's exactly where you would expect it to be.
  2. ontovzik @ ontovzik: When I had long term shingles, lasting two months. All he could give me was a 10 day supply of dilaudid. He looked at the ground while we were talking about it. I could tell he was ashamed but it was the legislature and the governor that tied his hands. He was very upset that non-medical political people, the media, and the scared public were controlling how he treated his patients. Someday those people will need meds and a hospital bed and they will be gone.
  3. ontovzik @ ontovzik: I had a great doctor, he had the true gift of a healer and he stayed on top of all the science. He straight up told me that for many people opiods work for managing short and long term pain.
  4. ontovzik @ ontovzik: He peed it in the snow in my backyard.
  5. WTF7218 @ WTF7218: @xenxra 😆😂. Yes, but only a few brave souls will ever find the number. You must first order a Dirty Shirley from the bartender. Then you must discreetly take the cocktail napkin from under your drink and unfold it. There you will find the map to the location of the phone number, and clues to decipher the code that it is written in.
  6. xenxra @ xenxra: he left his phone number scribbled in a stall at the pub three blocks down
  7. N @ NYStateofMind: @Alkazar I would try one of those easy online ones .. reddit gives useful info about that
  8. Alkazar @ Alkazar: @NYStateofMind I dont really have a history of abusing things, my docotr is just really stingy. I am thinking of switching.
  9. C @ Cheesus: Thanks xenxra
  10. xenxra @ xenxra: @Cheesus yeah, use snote

  13. N @ NYStateofMind: so it was easy bc of my history
  14. N @ NYStateofMind: I didnt really tell him but he knew I needed a new script since my dr went to jail
  15. N @ NYStateofMind: @xenxra I was on Adderall since 15 years ago so my dr prescribed that w no problems and then when I lost my best friend my doctor rxed the valiums but
  16. C @ Cheesus: Temp.pm down for anyone else?
  17. xenxra @ xenxra: @NYStateofMind my doctor's have always been pretty open minded if i can actually come in and explain the pharmacological action of the drugs im seeking instead of just telling them why i think i should be prescribed. the only time it didn't work out for me is when i was trying pharmaceuticals for depression ten years ago and suggested they let me try testosterone instead (turns out i was hypogonadal so they made a mistake denying my request at face value)
  18. T @ Testisthebest: Even down here in Florida when the pill mill docs all switched over to Suboxone and/or retired you can still find some pretty liberal docs but you gotta know what to look for. Mine does "pain management, detox, anxiety, etc. And no insurance. My doc writes me 60 5mg Valium, 14 2mg Xanax and asked if I had ever tried adderal to get more focus at work as I told him I run my own business.
  19. N @ NYStateofMind: @Alkazar do they know your history? Like I dont tell my doctor anything about myself except what they need to know,...I was able to get my dr to rx the highest dose of adderall along with valiums ..... if they dont know your history or there is no history I would just come out and ask what is the reason for their mistreatment.... they have no problem billing your insurance or taking a payment for the visit
  20. T @ Turbo259: @Layne_Cobain Thank you fam
