Anyone Ever Take White Grapefruit Juice To Help Potentiate Their Pk's?

Okay. I am so ready to go to the store and buy some white grapefruit juice. The 7.5/325's that I got from rite aid made by mallikinrodt (wich I think is now owned by watson) are crap. Ive never had to take 5 of those within two hrs to feel them working. This is rediculouse. So I hope this little experiment works. I read about it and I dont want to kill my liver with all that acetaminophen. I shld only have to take 1& 1/2 of those like always. I hope this works. Anyone tried this? And what was your experience?

 
I drank the juice with my x@n@z before and it made me so tired. Never gonna do that again with a benzo.

 
I've tried it before but saw no difference. It seems to work for some people, though.

I don't know but I just bought some white after reading all the hoopla. When I get up the nerve to gag some down I'll report on the outcome since I believe you, PT and I are all trying to potentiate the same thing. I've read white over red but that's just secondhand news.

 
Yes, Ive also heard that only the white works.

Also -- ZINC! Get some zinc supplements, zicam works great (the oral kind that dissolves in your mouth). Zinc helps slow down the build up of tolerance so you can keep your dose down. Google "zinc and opiods/opiates". It actually works, too (for me anyway)!

Get some zicam, try it out. You can take it at any time, doesnt need to be right beforehand or with or whatever. Plus its good for you.

It may work to a point, but it can also make you feel very sick and spew your insides out.

I just like grapefruit juice and used to drink it often until I started to get sick and throw up for no reason and finally realized it was every time I drank the juice and had meds.

To me it is like eating a banana and then drinking 7up or sprite. Never done that? Haha don't.

Seems to take about 15 min to react and come back up.

alcohol will do it for sure but not a good thing to mix med with. Bad for your liver.

That's good. I would hate for you to screw up you liver. Alcohol is the worst if you drink a lot over a period of time.

 
I've heard that Tagamet (antacid) helps a bit. Also keep in mind that most medications work in a more alkaline environment and the stomach is very acidic. Anything you can do to neutralize that will help.

Hmmm. Reading the papers on this it looks like the way it works is by lowering the endomorphin output, and basically works by reducing the euphoric feeling you'd get from the PK. Not sure that's the best way to reduce tolerance.

 
I don't know about grapefruit juice......actually never heard about this effect but once I was in so much pain, I had a vike and s@o@m@ and was like sheeeeeeeeeeeit! Took the pain away and some.

 
My experience, with vikings, is white grapefruit juice may help some, but what seems to be most effective (as in, I can tell a difference that is clearly more than in my mind) for me is 3 Tagamet tablets (get the generic cimetidine, MUCH cheaper) an hour before, with a standard antacid (maybe a couple of Tums) 45 minutes after the tagamet/15 minutes before the vikiing. With the grapefruit juice, I just am not sure - maybe it works? With the cimetidine routine I can tell a definite difference. Also, for me, a full stomach really slows down the effectiveness of the med, I'm old enough I think my metabolism just is too slow to absorb a stomach full of food and the med very quickly. So I try to eat at least a couple of hours before, and not much.

Its an emergency schedule which lasts TWO YEARS and they can request an additional if needed. I feel horrible for all the homie/homettes who have to deal with this.
