I truly feel where you're coming from P, and I am onboard. A protest march may not be the best option since many here wouldn't make it one city block!...but I agree there has to be a better way. It's a huge problem with no clear fix. In the meantime we have to keep taking chances in order to live the best life possible, taking it one day at a time.

I'm like many here that do the order little extra meds to get by . I use to get them from my doc when I really didn't need that much medication and now my conditions worse and its harder because of the laws.

I hope making a thread like this causes no problems I just wanted to see what other views where on it.

The gump, jenny thing I didn't get ?

Let's face it , There the people who truley need meds because of the health and other are into other things here and to each there own!!!

Of course there is no problem starting this thread, it's always good to read a variety of view points. Gump and Jenny aren't related to the topic, it's just Cat and Peanut joking around. Two peas in a pod is from the movie Forrest Gump, BTW.

Thanks 2earls for the info here I wasn't sure and now understand more better . I started the topic for others who are having trouble getting the meds you need to function. Im not concerned about people who are experimenting with drugs so hope the people with real health issues keep writing and hope some lawyer and doctor read it and give a idea how to repeal the law or get government to notice its hurting people with health problems and that's no joke

Just last nite I went to the drug store to pick up a couple prescriptions for my wife and while I was there I wanted a packet of vivarin (ya know, just regular 200mg caffeine p1lls). I couldn't find them so I asked at the pharmacist counter, and was advised that those are now kept 'behind the counter'...I asked why and she tells me they have a potential for abuse, mainly with kids & teens. Then she wants to know if I have any questions about their use...seriously?!?!

I'm afraid it's gonna get much worse before it gets better for patients dealing with chronic intractable pain (CIP). It's politically sexy right now to demonize PK's, and I can't imagine any politician who'd be willing to pick up the torch in support of making them more readily available. It'd be political suicide for them, since those coping with CIP are the minority, and the majority/healthy public hold the belief/stigma that those who use PK's as mere drug seekers/abusers.

It's just like someone else said earlier in this thread; before long we're gonna have to get a prescription for a f'ing aspirin. This issue truly makes me crazy. I hope someone can come up with a workable strategy to help CIP patients soon. I doubt it will be politicians, and although it SHOULD be a priority of doctor's, they damn sure won't do anything since they're under big brother's thumb.

This is another bullshit thing I have to do to get them patches that numb you up . I go to rite aid and they say you need prior authorization .My doc doesn't do paperwork and feels the script is my authorization to get this med. Im going say I only want them patches but damn insurance will not pay so guess give me some more oxys or dills because the insurance will pay for them but doctor only writes so many a month. Yea are health care works fine if your rich, but things happen to people who where working and you get into a accident and have to deal with are system and for anyone reading this up your auto police for underinsured because somebody mistake can wreck ur life so be prepared.

It is absolutely ridiculous. If doctors actually did their jobs and fixed our problems, we would have no need for IOPs or any of this insanity. They make drugs for a reason. Now the dea has doctors too afraid to prescribe what is necessary.

If we were to band together and demand our medicines though, I think we would be condemned as drug seeking addicts and written off by everyone.

The best way to currently band together and get what we need is to communicate between ourselves and get what they won't provide on our own. We could always move to mexico. Lol

In my 10th and 11th grade, I easily knew where the store kept the Vivarin.  Doesn't anyone remember cramming for midterm and final exams?

And in earlier adulthood, real Sudafed was the best thing for my tough colds and congestion.  Now, you have to jump through hoops to get it from the pharacists counter.

And at least in my otherwise liberal state, there's what's called a CURES database that tracks whenever you pick up controlled meds from the pharm.

"Liberty and justice for all', my arse!
Look, if you don't want your clothes Made in China, you go vintage or make your own.  Can't see why the more scientifically inclined among us don't try the DIY approach, at least just for personal use.  Clandestine labs shouldn't be wasted on meth, but sleep aids and such!  Just like those w/green thumbs for MJ and poppy pods.

  1. LatsDoodis @ LatsDoodis: Pharmacies, too. I switched my psychiatrist and just went through a pill mill telehealth place for a half year, then it got popular and all major pharmacies stopped filling Rx stims for this company’s independent contractor-providers, regardless of any reason than they treated ADHD patients with stims and it was a lot of people. Independent medical judgment from clinicians licensed and following rules. I needed the treatment. Who cares how many patients use the company? They followed the rules.
  2. LatsDoodis @ LatsDoodis: That’s wild. It should be medical judgment, not corporate fear of lawsuits. Go set that doc straight. You need to have pain controlled aggressively or not at all. Be consistent.

  7. xenxra @ xenxra: @WTF7218 it may as well be that way with how little effort some of the people on here make to find information that's exactly where you would expect it to be.
  8. ontovzik @ ontovzik: When I had long term shingles, lasting two months. All he could give me was a 10 day supply of dilaudid. He looked at the ground while we were talking about it. I could tell he was ashamed but it was the legislature and the governor that tied his hands. He was very upset that non-medical political people, the media, and the scared public were controlling how he treated his patients. Someday those people will need meds and a hospital bed and they will be gone.
  9. ontovzik @ ontovzik: I had a great doctor, he had the true gift of a healer and he stayed on top of all the science. He straight up told me that for many people opiods work for managing short and long term pain.
  10. ontovzik @ ontovzik: He peed it in the snow in my backyard.
  11. WTF7218 @ WTF7218: @xenxra 😆😂. Yes, but only a few brave souls will ever find the number. You must first order a Dirty Shirley from the bartender. Then you must discreetly take the cocktail napkin from under your drink and unfold it. There you will find the map to the location of the phone number, and clues to decipher the code that it is written in.
  12. xenxra @ xenxra: he left his phone number scribbled in a stall at the pub three blocks down
  13. N @ NYStateofMind: @Alkazar I would try one of those easy online ones .. reddit gives useful info about that
  14. Alkazar @ Alkazar: @NYStateofMind I dont really have a history of abusing things, my docotr is just really stingy. I am thinking of switching.
  15. C @ Cheesus: Thanks xenxra
