I bet Shawn regrets pulling out of the free cross now that he didn't even make the podium in the snowboarding half pipe.  When he was interviewed (after not placing) if he was surprised or what would he have done differently.  He said, "I would not wait three days to go by without practicing just before trying for the gold."  What??  I think he got a little lax and underestimated his and the other competitors abilities.

That is what i told my wife when we were watching it.  I don't know the guy except what I have seen on tv over the past several years, but he seemed kind of arrogant.  I guess the lesson here is don't get to big for your britches.  If I am correct in that he didn't take the competition seriously, that is a shame because he is truly a talented snowboard rider.  Probably the best.

 
Yea that I don't get. To be in the Olympics is huge success. I guess he got complacent. Its just a shame he's not getting any younger. Sometimes people need a wake up call maybe this is his.

 
It's like a couple of the figure skaters being interviewed today.  "I just hope I make it into the top 10"  WHAT?  why wouldn't they try and go after the gold?  Nobody knows who is going to fall or mess up.  It's like they came from the league where everyone gets a participation medal.  It's like some of the US athletes aren't hungry for the win.  I just hope I can tie my shoes or some other foolish thing.

 
That's how kids sports are. Everyone wins. You can't slaughter a team that's not nice. Its sickening. I heard how some teachers can't use a red pen when marking a paper. Its too harsh on the little snow flakes.... BS grow some balls!!

You are funny and oh so right!! There's a whole school of thought that you never tell a child "No" bc it can be damaging or some nonsense. You are supposed to just change how u would say no with a positive spin or some BS. This is a whole other subject but we are teaching kids not to be competitors or to know right from wrong. When I was a kid I got my ass kicked when I disobeyed my Parents and that was that!!

 
Exactly mrsbeez its not right. Its not reality either so when they get older their going to get crushed and have no fight in them. Dumbing down the society its happening everywhere. I tell ya it makes me sick. Everyone isn't a winner but everyone can be if they put their mind and action towards it!<---------true story

 
Even my husband loves ice dancing? And jpmorgan, your wife is a badass, totally impressed, can you give any not exact indication of her age? Wish I had that much energy, so jealous, in a good way!
