Anyone ever had a package go missing/possibly stolen by worker

I sent out a letter that was very valuable. It has since gotten lost at the facility. Me and my vendor are pretty certain it was stolen by a worker at said facility. Now obviously this is a big problem. I had already received my letter from my vendor, so this is a real big problem. My vendor wants us to both take this loss and split it, which i guess only makes sense. But the letter was very valuable. Has this ever happened to anyone else.

yes, but the vendor did not require me to split the loss.   The vendor told me it happens all the time that the mail guys get it.

Cheeky swines  getting peoples stuff. Seen a YT film that birthday cards or jiffy bag looking items get snuck into the bog at the depo, then sorter rips it open , then flush or bin the packaging . Its a bit like gambling,  will I get something valuable or a 50% off your next pack of.... voucher. 

Guess that's the risk of standard mail. I assume it's not special singd both ends
