Best E-Mail Providers

@jc21np: Not sure but I think that safemail is similar to hushmail?

If it is, you should read the thread under Legal Issues titled: "Email Account Disabled Due To Violation Of Terms".

There is a lot of good info there by some seasoned / former members that may help you.

Hushmail rolled over very easily and I believe is now gone.

I use safe-mail for 90% of my stores and I feel pretty good with it, when used in conjunction with a VPN, it does NOT log your location as most other free providers do....I have logged into it from russia to romania and it never asks about why I'm logging in from a weird place.

Also id you ever find yourself in need of a temporary email addy for whatever reason, (we don't judge) there is this:

OH but to answer your OG question: Yes, you can send mail from safe-mail encrypted or unencrypted.

The downfall is that if you encrypt and send an email to a non safe-mail user, they probably won't be able to decrypt it.

Thanks for the link Heisenberg. Being security aware is good but nothing is fool proof. Using common sense as well could make the difference. Stay small, don't be greedy, stagger your routine...Everyone knows what I mean.

Tormail RoundCube is pretty decent, although the tor algorythm has been cracked. Another vote for https://www.guerrillamail.com/

As mentioned everything is becoming tighter in general with regard to your online id - common sense and some research goes alongway.

Is Tormail related to the Tor browser?   And... does anyone know  if the final exit proxy issue been resolved or is resolvable?

I'm looking to tighten up my comms and even though I've taken a few steps to do so, I always worry that I could be linked to my content and orders of LE wanted to make an example of me.  We all have a lot of risk somewhere and I want to mitigate what I can.

I dunno, maybe I'm just paranoid.

I use countermail and like it. And check out Heisenberg's link above. Very informative and I was glad to see CM ranked so highly cause I signed up for it before seeing the list of providers.

Couldn't agree more HB. I've been extremely pleased with Countermail thus far, and am as confident as I can be with any 3rd party provider in terms of their corporate, legal and technical structures. Like you, I was pleased to see them rank so highly in the linked article provided by Hooter. And on a final side note, I was impressed with their rather innovative approach to maintaining customer privacy where payment information is concerned. You may have noticed when signing up, but they permanently destroy all customer payment data after 14 days, which demonstrated to me that they'd left no detail unaccounted for. Most definitely my provider of choice, and they receive the official Wookie Seal of Approval. /default_biggrin.png

Fixed. /default_smile.png

Thinking about shelling out the bucks for a CM account.

I wanted to bring this out again. Heisenberg found a very useful list(see above). Thanks again H.

The only other thing I can add about CM is that they're the only provider that operates using diskless web servers, which in layman's terms means there not only are no IP logs to worry about being stores on their end, there is no physical storage drive to host such logs. This is important, because some providers purge access logs (and related IP's) on set intervals, so if LE were to come and confiscate their servers between purge cycles, one's IP could be compromised. Not so with CM, as even if seized, nothing is stored on the host server.

Yes sir, and it's not even a point of debate, CM is absolutely "the way" to go. The only two drawback to Cm would be, it does cost $$ and the other, as bubba said above, it doesn't work on, well, (unspecific) phones. But from a security standpoint, not regarding these, it is without a doubt, the best.
Actually, there is a work around for fruity style phones, so to speak, and they have an app for Androids now. The "fruit" workaround is a little complex, but does work, or so I hear. (:

As far as $$, well, you get what you pay for I guess.

It appears the safemail and countermail are the two popular services.  Does anyone have a preference?  Countermail seems to be edging safemail out a bit even after looking at the links some members posted here.
