Best E-Mail Providers

Hi friends---got lazy and stayed with free hushmail too long...now, the "free" part wants body search material: ala phone numbers etcetera...does what y'all claim here be still valid? I'm willing to pay within reason. Kinda freaked me out that i feel kinda "targeted";;

thanks for feedback

I was under the impression that vfemail servers were overseas. Only one is. I was not looking for THAT level of security when I signed up, though, so I like what I have with them.

If you are one of those who want a service with  overseas servers, vfemail can offer this:

"What is a Non-US Mailbox?
Users may have the option to migrate their mailbox to a Non-US server. Currently, this server resides in the Netherlands, and employs full volume encryption.
Using this server can increase performance for European customers. It may or may not offer increase levels of privacy, as that is a legal matter and there are differing opinions."

NN check out this list. Shows where the company servers are located.

Thanks, HB, I saw that earlier, which prompted me to check vfemail's server locations. The servers are in the US and one is in the Netherlands. So, the option to be on a foreign server is there. If I decide to use our new Vendor, I can request a non-US mailbox.

I am in same boat.  I knew you needed to log in every three weeks to keep free account. I logged in after exactly 2 weeks of inactivity and was locked out anyway. Now cannot create a new one without personal info. I knew Hushmail was not best but presumably better than Gmail, etc.  I need to find an alternative and quick.

The one thing I liked about Hushmail (and I know I was being naive about the level of anonymity and security) was that if I sent an email to a regular email address then the message did not go to the person's Inbox.  Rather, they got a link and needed a password to read and message disappeared after a certain amount of time. Now, I know it was still on their servers but the recipient could no longer access the original message.  And you needed the password to read. Of course, recipient could (and probably did) cut and paste certain info.  But I still felt better than using Gmail. What would be a similar type service that would not require the end user to use same service. For example, I know some have mentioned Countermail, but my limited understanding is that it works best if recipient also uses Countermail. I know I cannot dictate what service these vendors have and did not want my original messages in their Inboxes indefinitely, which is why I liked Hushmail (or perhaps just the illusion of anonymity it gave me).

Any help is appreciated on some alternative routes. Thanks in advance.

I signed up last night. Heard that the list moves pretty fast.

Some nice suggestions here fellow members. Thanks.

Also with so many free services maybe switching it up every few months or so will help with your email footprint.

indeed.

I've been using safe mail for some time now and all things being equal I think I'm sure for a fresh account somewhere. Time to check some of these out.

I use this. Mail.ru   Located in Moscow Russia. I mean, think about it, after the "Edward Snowden" (Spelling) incident, and all the NSA chit, do you think Russia is going to hand over anything to the NSA or the US?  I think not, especially something as simple as ordering a few ex-lax.

Free secure POP3 and STMP servers for those that like to use external programs.

I also have an account with Yandex...also Russian with free secure POP3.... Damn, prohibition is turning me in to a red headed communist! /default_unsure.png

I trust Mail.ru more than Yandex, because Yandex is more main stream. But, I still wouldn't think it would be easy for anyone to gain email information from either.

Like was already mentioned, Safe mail rolled over on anyone and everyone, so safe mails out for me. Safe mail = dirty rat!

I guess, at least the NSA don't get their grubby little paws on them. /default_rolleyes.gif  Besides, the KGB don't care about my ex-lax habit....LOL!

Bummer, I must have missed the bit where safemail was rated shite. I'll move on perhaps.

Riseup is pretty good, can help out with invites if anyone needs,  I don't like counter-mail every time I receive an e-mail from someone using it , it's in an unrecognized pgp key/
I'm looking for an invite for riseup...actually two. I just finished looking into the list that @headbanger posted not long ago... OK, a few months... And riseup is the one I want to use... I'm a newbie so i guess I don't have PM yet... Willing to throw an invite for a new chick?

Countermail or bust.

Safe-mail, may not hand over information, but you must understand there is no encryption.

When i want internet safety on the clearnet, i want MITM protection, 4096bit public PGP key, a private key, AES, TLS, USB-flash encryption with a huge key on it only allowing you with your specific USB plugged into your port. I want diskless web servers that don't even store your info, therefore if you lose your pw good LUCK contacting CM, THEY dont even have it. I just mentioned a few layers of protection. PGP is so important, as are all of the other sophistocated layers. I've found this to be without doubt by far the best "service."Located in sweden.

Here you go Benny. Go to Google and do a search using "safemail hands over users information" click the first link that pops up.

Exactly what i was saying; No encryption. I don't care if its called safe-mail, hushmail, or isweartogodiwonthandyourshitover.net, unless its got layers and layers of encyption, web servers that don't store any info (diskless), SSL/TLS/MITM/4096bit/USB-encryption, hosted by a country that doesn't hand over conversations to domestic (for us) private emails to L.E., i'm out. It's just simply not worth it.... The only reason i would ever use safe-mail would be to just have it over google, because i doubt they store deleted emails for the better part of a decade and cooperate hand in hand without question with L.E., that being said....I'm sure when they come knocking any of those sites that are free especially aren't going to keep any promises.

Either use Gpu4win etc and create your own PGP's, or use CM; I also like the idea in which you can have 20 email addresses and they all bounce back just to your original CM account created; I have used CM for years without problems, and IMO, if they didn't charge money, that's when i would be skeptical of any service..Not to mention i don't know of any that are free that offer as many layers of encryption and use the same methodology of CM. That's just what i have found to be true and i don't plan to change provider's anytime soon; They stay very relevant and have a very proven track record, and that's what is key for cryto mail provider's in the long run IME and IMHO. Thanks for sharing @mhzjunkie

  1. CalFresh @ CalFresh: Thanks everyone. My family and I are safe ATM. @mellowella thank you, but they cleaned me out. the shelves are empty but I'm hoping to call in some favors to restock ASAP. @xenxra I will reach out to set up a secure comms channel for us. Thanks again all. Yesterday was tough, but the support I've received from those I can share is with has been a Godsend.
  2. tiquanunderwood @ tiquanunderwood: Mad love to you and your family @CalFresh
  3. xenxra @ xenxra: @CalFresh if you are able to DM me (in a secure manner) the transactions associated with your btc theft, i can look into that part for you at least. i;m still 99% certain if the fbi didn't discard my leads they could have gotten some of my coins back and considering you had your coins stolen within the us, you have a much better chance of recovery than me. unless they went through mixers i could probably trace them myself.
  4. O @ Outsider9173: @CalFresh Haven't been here long but I want to wish you a fast recovery

  10. mellowella @ mellowella: @CalFresh are you and your family safe? You’ve helped me in a pinch and were more than generous, and I’m sure you’ve helped others. How can we help you? Does it help at all if we completely buy out what’s left? Maybe that gives time and funds to restock and rebuild? I don’t want to break any rules here, but please let us know if we can do anything. All on your time of course.
  11. CalFresh @ CalFresh: thanks guys. I'm pulling together what I have left and leaning on the kindness of folks who support me to restock my shelves so that I can keep the lights on. Having my savings drained and my security vanish in an instant is paralyzing and the repercussions will only be realized in the coming days and weeks. for now I'm just trying to stay focused on the immediate priorities for ensuring this doesn't. cause cataclysmic failure to the life I've built for my children and I.
  12. H @ hotdog45: @CalFresh hey man if I can do anything, anything at all to help you get back on your feet let me know. Truly my heart goes out to you. I sent you an email also

  17. CalFresh @ CalFresh: friends, about a few hours ago my home was invaded by two punk thugs with guns. They stole everything I had in my home: cash, electronics, and mags, and forced me to transfer $20K in Bitcoin. it is a huge loss and I'm still reeling trying to figure out what i.can do to recover. For now I'm just trying to secure what little I have left so they can't take anything else. I'm telling you guys cause theres not many others I can tell. please bare w/ me, it'll take a few days to get back up and running
  18. CnC5 @ CnC5: @xenxra awesome
  19. giantsquids @ giantsquids: don't jinx it now haha
  20. xenxra @ xenxra: bitcoin is probably going to $120k in the next few weeks, screenshot this.
