With The ‘Old Firm’ match coming up this weekend (Rangers v Celtic) I was wondering what everyones opinion was on what is the biggest football derby in world football?
For my sins I’m a born and bred Rangers fan and and believe me when I say there is nothing like when we play Celtic. The atmosphere is something that honestly can’t be described only experienced and if you know the history it (unfortunately) transcends just local rivalry...Ireland, Protestant v catholic’s , unionists v republicans. It is getting better though the bigotry is consigned to those 90 minutes like a mob mentality. However the hatred for those 90 minutes is unparalleled, the noise, singing, the passion it’s an otherworldly feeling at times.. The build up usually starts about a week before the game and the fall out if you lose for weeks afterwards!!
