Long detailed manifesto lol I took the time to read it and hopefully it's just a mishap. I took the risk and hopefully it works out well. I just personally don't understand why I can't receive tracking number for my mags doesn't really make much sense. Was this normal practice on their behalf when you did business in past ? Just curious cause I have never dealt with vendor not give me tracking, kinda a given you ask me . I took the risk cause it was a lot of good reviews by people looked legit, hopefully I'm not apart of an exit scam

You definitely sound like a dick riding glazer for writing a post about them being rude when anyone who has read some of their posts can clearly say they come off as rude sometimes...Firm business practices or boundaries doesn't mean talk to your customers in a demeaning way...

Honestly from what I’ve seen most vendors do not give you tracking unless a certain number of days have passed. You need to sign up for informed delivery with u5p5

Stop fiending and make a plan dude, this is like the 4th or 5th publisher I see you building a moat of tears and flop sweat about. Maybe subscribing to magazines online isn't for you.

If you really placed a subscription (and assuming you can read), it clearly says that there will be no communication after ordering. It's not to be a dick. Its not to scam you. Its a bit for security, and I swear some people need their crusty, penny squeezing hands held for a drop-in-the-bucket subscription that followed MAYBE 20% of the rules.

By you doing what you're doing, with no proof, makes it seem like you're trying to get something unearned. I don't know.

Probably not a good place to put this, but I on the other hand properly subscribed the 5th time. From subscription to reading, it's never taken longer than 8 days. Props to Blackstar for their professionalism, and for sticking it through that kind of undisciplined, incoherent and loud reader that seems to be more and more common here.

Since you want to fact check , he claimed "48 hours max" to send mags after donation is made. Went four days after he confirmed donation to "say" it was shipped. When you send donation you have to provide proof of transaction right ? So why not provide proof of shipping. Goes both ways. Moat of tears lol I have commented and expressed my experience on more than one thread one good n rest bad because they were bad hence HighRC on blacklist not because I cried but because he was bad vendor taking advantage of people and in all essence robbing people. I'm aware how to use informed delivery. Funny how these rules are all the way at bottom of a paste bin link not in thread not out in open so it's understood. Personally I don't fiend or whatever you trying to say for anything lol I just like upfront professionalism which isn't here sac to say. To me just looks like another drop shopper board line Ponzi scheme lol But wait I must not very confident or impressed that's for sure
 
Maybe you didn't get the same email I did. When I got wallet info, it clearly stated no tracking no communication. Before money was sent. Did you not get it, or did you not read it, or did you not assume it was accurate?

I mean all of these things are OK, but I'm just not sure where your surprise at this is coming from.

Never received any indication I wasn't receiving a tracking number ever , never was spoken about or discussed not once.
 
Alright so my mags touch down 8 days after order placed... They absolutely would have been here sooner but my mail has been HELLA slow lately (from every part of the country. I get a lot of packages bc I collect stuff).

Pretty solid opsec, to a point where I wasn't sure if it was actually my mag when it arrived LOL.

Magazine looks and seems as I remember it. Labeled clearly. I was a very long time subscriber from another publisher but I ran out of reading material after several years, and I am very very happy to have this for a rainy day.

I did a pretty small order because I am working on a budget and it has damn near tripled in price since I was getting it last. But it's worth every penny to have my favorite back. The only magazine I read anymore!


Thanks blackstar. I had no trouble with my order or communication. I see other people having trouble so maybe I'm an outlier but as a first time subscriber I'll happily be back again if I can stop spending money on other junk lol!
 
The reality is that vendors get busy. We get inundated with tracking and status requests by the same people who do it almost every order after 2-3 days. Therefore we aren't really concerned with the ones who leave. Just the ones who stay.
How's that going for ya?
 
I have a theory that our Blackstar here is none other than the infamous Mr. Black who got BLACKlisted for good reason. And I wonder if some of these accounts jizzing for him aren't some convenient side account for him or his "crew". Just a theory, but the attitude and ineptitude match up well, and I wouldn't put it past him to be unimaginative and lazy when picking a new name.
 
I have sent BStar multiple messages yesterday and today to make a purchase with no response. Have had no issues and always a quick response til now.
 
Completed my first sub. Although there was a communication hiccup, after nine days I messaged and got a quick response, afterward it seems my mag was quickly mailed. The writing style is right up there with another writer/publisher who I would liken to Hemingway. My mag also had nearly twice as many pages as expected. Would happily subscribe again.
 
Unfortunately, I have to warn you all of a change in Blackstar’s behavior

They are either beginning an exit scam, trying to make a quick buck off skimming a few unfortunate buyers (maybe people they dislike, given the recent outbursts against patrons who message too much?) and/or exhibiting exceptional incompetence compounded by refusal to make it right.

I’m willing to entertain that it was a genuine mistake they made that they unfortunately doubled down on, but it would not surprise me if this was the start of a company-wide exit scam with some plausible deniability. If this is truly an unfortunate mishap in an otherwise positive relationship, I’m more than willing to make amends, however I feel it’s my responsibility to post as I’ve seen here.

I noticed that Blackstar has been posting more erratically lately, especially against users they seem to find difficult. This gave me some pause already, but I decided to go with another order since they’ve been okay thus far. I went with a smaller order than usual, about half of what I typically buy (thank god!), which makes their later implications that I’m somehow the one trying to pull something even more ridiculous (why would I scam them out of half of my typical order, and not the normal amount, if I were the one at fault?). As usual, Blackstar was cagey and refused to give basic details such as whether the order had been processed, shipped, etc.—incredibly unprofessional behavior that I put up with due to our previously positive arrangement.

I gave them exceptional patience knowing they typically do not like “talkative” customers. However, by the 9th, I still saw nothing on Informed Delivery despite a suddenly “generous” deal with free express shipping (another thing I found very sus to occur out of the blue, but went with against my better instincts). Upon giving them a detailed account, they claimed that the package had been sent and picked up on the 6th. When I pointed out that it was ordered late in the day on the 4th and couldn’t have even arrived by the 6th, they claimed they didn’t just express it, they overnighted it. For free. Out of the blue. Interesting!

Clearly, they were now implying that I was lying and ostensibly trying to get a second order for free. I made it clear this had not arrived, and even offered to prove it: I mentioned that to confirm I’d not received the package, I’d record a video of my Informed Delivery to confirm that no such package had been received. Hell, I’d even call up the post office and ask them directly which packages (if any) had arrived on the 6th. This was met with deflection and general handwaving, saying it's my fault given I'd supplied the information (which they confirmed had been sent to MY ADDRESS—this is an important detail that leads me to believe they're lying and didn't just mis-ship it.) When I again reiterated that I could actually prove that nothing was shipped to my address, as they claimed, they completely clammed up. My suspicion is they thought they could bully me with vague allusions to me giving incorrect info (I'm autistic as hell and quadruple-check everything, so in the words of Chuck from BCS, AS IF I COULD MAKE SUCH A MISTAKE!) but they messed up by confirming they'd sent it to my address instead of simply saying it'd been shipped elsewhere due to a failure of mine; I could now confirm that they had, in fact, not sent it to me and they had absolutely no interest in any such confirmation. They slipped up! Should've lied and said it was shipped elsewhere, would've been less falsifiable.

So, there’s three possibilities for this lovely community to consider:
  • Option 1: Blackstar truly did overnight my package out of the kindness of their hearts (mentioned only after being called out for it being impossible for express to have arrived on time) and that just so happened to be the package that I intended to steal despite it being half of my typical order, tarnishing my otherwise pristine record here (which, even if that were so, they offered no hesitation or contemplation about any real potential issue going on, somehow completely sure that they were in the right and I was wrong). This does leave the question of why they wouldn’t accept any attempts to confirm the possibility of an incorrect shipment, though!
  • Option 2: the free express shipping is a ploy to get people to order, either for their entire business or for select customers that annoy them for being *too* communicative or perhaps at random given order history. Once they were called out, they changed their story to something implausible (overnighting for no reason). But they forgot that express shipping shows up in Informed Delivery, and can thus be empirically disproven. Like cowards, they simply hide and ignore any good-faith attempts at reconciliation
  • Option 3: They genuinely did make a mistake, but are so arrogant, selfish, and/or greedy, that they refuse to take in any information that might require them to make it right.
If you order with them, you’re gambling that I wrote this entire manifesto for…what reason exactly? As you can see, I previously was nothing but positive with them! I’m currently under the impression it’s an exit scam, but I wouldn’t put it past them to be so arrogant as to ignore a massive blunder on their part. Either way, even if you currently retain a good relationship with them, you are putting your money and product at risk by continuing with their business; they can do this to any of you at any moment.

I'm still willing to make amends, Blackstar. But somehow, I don't think that's gonna happen. I've been down this road before, and it smells like the "biding for time" BS bad vendors always do when trying to maximize exit profit. Another otherwise decent vendor down the drain!
It's not a change in behavior, it's just the cracks in the very thin facade starting to show.

Obviously haven’t gotten my magazine yet but it’s quiet clear he doesn’t like people that can’t follow rules or get impatient.. people have life’s outside of this.
I’ll leave another review when the magazine gets here.

My first two orders were great, then he offered me a incredible deal and I took him up on it. I saw the label was created then it just sat for 10 days (the rule of waiting 10 business days about asking) so then I asked, he apologized and said he would express it, perfect with me. I saw no label was made (looked into I guess express doesn’t always show up) okay cool. I wait like 5 days this time and ask if he was able to ship it (all while being polite, never accusing, and the past 2 subscriptions came in 2-3 days) so very unusual. I wait another week. And at this point it has been a full month since I have sent funds, while being told it was shipped. Not until I started making a little bit on a stink on here about it, all the sudden my pack showed up 3 days later. At the end of the day I received the product I was promised and if you go back earlier posts, I tagged my original complaint and said that I got it. But it definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. Since 1) it was a larger order, 2) i understand that these guys are normal people who have lives and everything, but don’t lie saying you shipped it when clearly you haven’t.
