CIM - how to use it?

I was wondering what CIM stood for and being new here I didn't want to ask... this post made me realize its meaning. Thanks!

CIM is fine with trusted vendors. Of course things can go wrong but in many ways alternatives are worse. But trust is key here. As is packaging and using tracking. Somebody above said “if it even smells like cash . . . Missing”. Well address that so that your. CIM doesn’t. Not that hard to do.

Thanks much for this info. I was looking for info as one of the MM folks use it. I notice it makes a number of people nervous  I don't like things that make me nervous. That's why I switched to BTC for orders with the one vendor I am using right now. Come to think of it, having M delivered kinda makes me nervous right now.. I think I'll stay local for my veery limited use....

Thanks again. I love this site.

Patsummers, im with you now. Trusted vendor, btc.....so much less stressful. I've had my share of runs with WU/MG, tried CIM only once and got burned....it went missing. Luckily the vendor agreed to split the loss, but it was over a grand....that hurt. Now its btc only. It takes awhile to get used to it, but i suggest starting with Coinbase....super easy to use....then transfer to another wallet before sending to vendor.

can anyone be more informative on how to actually use cim and ask for tracking without it being suspicious? id like to try this but nevr have and this threads supposed to be about how to actually use it, any help appreciated i just wasnt sure how to ask for it and not look weird, do you prewrap an envelope and then ask for that to be sent in another, i mean how do you not stick money in it right on the spot without it being obvious?

 Hi @deeps_Mindquest

can anyone be more informative on how to actually use cim and ask for tracking without it being suspicious? id like to try this but nevr have and this threads supposed to be about how to actually use it, any help appreciated i just wasnt sure how to ask for it and not look weird, do you prewrap an envelope and then ask for that to be sent in another, i mean how do you not stick money in it right on the spot without it being obvious?
hi  yes it can seem that way but pack it inside another source first ahead of time

padded wrapped material . Like a gift or business thing . Best thing would be plan ahead . Get an envelope from the shipping source and plan at home . Most of those places you can grab your supply and bring it back locked and sealed ...

thank you my concern was using usps with a flat rate box and envelope iv got the general idea but sadly never sent CIM before its usually always western union or moneygram, i think i get the idea to get coloring book and just put money in an envelope tape it inside the coloring book, i watched several youtube videos on it now, its just the uncomfort of never having used a flat rate envelope before mainly, i guess you can just ask for the flat rate envelope and take it home to wrap i see that now, does anyone know if they can stick the address on after you go to a usps? or do i fill it out  myself? i just didnt want to ask them in there post office on the spot and dont wright so good, but would love it if they could just stick a printed out address on after i take the envelope to the usps office,  i dont have a printer and even thought about going to 1 of the places that print out a TO and FROM section rather then looking rediculous not knowing how to do its a real pain as i dont want to drawl attention to the fact im sending money and dont want them to suspect moneys in the envelope as i hear that some steal packages.. i just want it to go as smooth as possible using my first flat rate envelope, anyone know if i can just take the already sealed flat rate envelope after sealed to have them stick a address to and from on the package? or would i be better off filling it all out myself? and do i have to add the 4 digit zip plus 4 code as in several youtube videos iv seen so far? it would be great if they can just stick a printed out to and from sticker on when i go to the usps but wasnt sure if thats how it works or not. any help appreciated im probably the only person alive thats never used a flat rate envelope before but we all learn sometime and im looking forward to starting my first experience soon. please let me know if anyones used a flat rate envelope before as the first times a bit uncomfy

Was going to pm you but see that I cant.

I like to put it in an envelope, then tape it inside whatever I can find around the house. Old product instructions or manuals are good and even in a file folder it's lighter than a catalog or coloring book. Those are both fine too. Then as I said I take it to the PO in a file folder and just go up and send my "documents". They don't look through your papers, but you can shove it in the envelope first anyway.

If you are not familiar with mailing stuff just ask for the envelope for priority express or however you are sending it. I usually ask my vendor if they have a preference. Sometimes since they know me they just say throw a stamp on and send it. Until they know you tracking will be required. Oh, and you do have to fill out the addresses. I imagine if you really have a problem with writing they would do it for you.

Thank you very much for the reply i appreciate it i guess ill be ok after the first try, just didnt want to end up with someone stealing my money since its the first time.

@Deeps_MindQuest      Yeah its one of those things you dont over think.  My post office has a rack in the foyer and I just grab a bunch of envelopes and forms and take it home and get it all ready and fill out the forms and go to the po.  Its really quite simple and I have never had an issue with money being stolen or lost.  The only time I had a problem was when good Ole Sunrise from NC informed that my package arrived and it appeared to be tampered with and the money was gone.  Of course she had already thrown the envelope away so she could not provide photographic evidence of said package so I took her word for it.  She graciously offered to replace the order for half the price.   If you notice, her thread is locked because she was a thief and  a liar.  The postal service wont mess with your letter at all.   Just read the reviews of the vendors that use that particular method and if they are still active on the forum and are receiving good reviews, then I wouldnt worry about it at all.   Good Luck!

Aside from bitcoin its the easiest for me. At first its stressful because I was worried it’d get tampered with...but hasn’t happened yet. Ill typically save the vendor even more time by sending a return pack pre labeled as well. Makes everything go much smoother.

I'e only had one stolen once (using the reusable envelopes with double-tape.  Always use both adhesive strips on those reusable envelopes.  If you leave adhesive, its way too easy for someone to open, remove contents, and re-seal as if it were never opened.

Im getting ready to do my first CIM probably in the not too distant future but just want to make sure Im ready and know what Iam doing , is there any advice yall can give? I know to get it certified or at least priority , do I have to do both? Any advice would be appreciated. If this is somehting I should just ask the vendor I can delete this post I just didnt want to bug them when I wont be ordering right then and there.

Do you use flat rate envolope? I was thinking of picking up supplies later on that way Its all ready to send out. @Bren45

  1. CalFresh @ CalFresh: Thanks everyone. My family and I are safe ATM. @mellowella thank you, but they cleaned me out. the shelves are empty but I'm hoping to call in some favors to restock ASAP. @xenxra I will reach out to set up a secure comms channel for us. Thanks again all. Yesterday was tough, but the support I've received from those I can share is with has been a Godsend.

  3. xenxra @ xenxra: @CalFresh if you are able to DM me (in a secure manner) the transactions associated with your btc theft, i can look into that part for you at least. i;m still 99% certain if the fbi didn't discard my leads they could have gotten some of my coins back and considering you had your coins stolen within the us, you have a much better chance of recovery than me. unless they went through mixers i could probably trace them myself.
  4. O @ Outsider9173: @CalFresh Haven't been here long but I want to wish you a fast recovery

  10. mellowella @ mellowella: @CalFresh are you and your family safe? You’ve helped me in a pinch and were more than generous, and I’m sure you’ve helped others. How can we help you? Does it help at all if we completely buy out what’s left? Maybe that gives time and funds to restock and rebuild? I don’t want to break any rules here, but please let us know if we can do anything. All on your time of course.
  11. CalFresh @ CalFresh: thanks guys. I'm pulling together what I have left and leaning on the kindness of folks who support me to restock my shelves so that I can keep the lights on. Having my savings drained and my security vanish in an instant is paralyzing and the repercussions will only be realized in the coming days and weeks. for now I'm just trying to stay focused on the immediate priorities for ensuring this doesn't. cause cataclysmic failure to the life I've built for my children and I.

They stole everything I had in my home: cash, electronics, and mags, and forced me to transfer $20K in Bitcoin. it is a huge loss and I'm still reeling trying to figure out what i.can do to recover. For now I'm just trying to secure what little I have left so they can't take anything else.
