Yeah, this is pretty much the norm, I think bitbargain is affiliated with coinbase or just the UK version of it too.

@a360 hi could you give me any companies for buying bitcoin and which wallet to use from the UK to phillinnies , id be very grateful as every where seems to be going bit coin ☺

Rec, send me a PM if you like. I use Coinbase (expensive on transactions and localbitcoin.co.uk (cheaper but more of a faff to set up trades where traders require details to identify you and confirm you are who you say you are).

Twenty minutes tops to get set up on localbitcoin.co.uk as long as you have your passport to hand and a phone to take your picture, sounds ominous but it is not really.

Read up on multi-factor authentication as well and be prepared to download google authenticator or similar for I-device.

Hi @Rec, I've always had great success with bitbargaindotcodotuk.

@tanked I am wondering if your personal wallet is the issue.  Would it be possible to try another personal wallet?  Maybe Bitcoin Wallet or something similiar?

I am using the recommended wallet and bit coin to make a donation here. Are these good vendors to use for bitcoin? I don't want to mess up just making a $20 transaction. Thank you for any advice you can provide - never used it before.

Coinbase is the absolute worst! They double dip, hold transfers... Definitely get another wallet and keep an eye on your bank account. They just cost me a lot.

Coinbase sucks, but it might be the easiest platform for newcomers to DEPOSIT and get BTC, then transfer to another wallet. The double dipping is very annoying, but I suppose it is worth it. I simply can't order as much as I do and always use WU or whatever (which also takes a nice little fee for themselves).

I have never had an Xfer frozen. Do you mean to another wallet or to  a bank? @Gracie5

Yes, to my outside wallet, @HeirCroc1. It was horrible because by the time it was released, bit had fallen a lot. I agree, it’s the easiest. But I’ve had double dipping twice, and that cost- after verifying- plus the overdrafts, and now my bank keeps calling...it has been a stressful experience. I am trying to find a better experience for buying, but I still have CB for selling (if I ever recoup the loss).

I've heard stories. Someone I know that has a legal retail operation had 22.2k in coinbase (which is dumb as hell, but he did not know) and coinbase froze the funds. They NEVER gave an explanation.

Also, sorry they fucked you. Have you researched other exchanges?

Really sad to hear the horror stories.

I have not had such a bad time, for sure the transaction costs are very high and at times it can take hours to settle a trade. I use localbitcoin, it is fast and good exchange. Never had a problem with them.

Localbitcoin security is tight though so be ready to jump through hoops to perform a buy trade with proving who you are, but you only ever really need to do this once.

PM me for any help required for localbitcoin.

Thanks so much- i realize my comment was misplaced, as this is not the right topic- I really do agree that CB or maybe even Paxful would be easiest for small amounts, like for new members. Paxful uses giftcards, etc., and is very similar to LocalBitcoin, but I think Local is safer.

I have 3 others now! That’s too many, so @kinsona, I may have some questions, as Local is what I am inclined to keep.

Yes, @HeirCroc1, I did. They actually closed my first account, and I had nowhere even remotely close to your friend. That’s so awful!

New members, just don’t ever use the CB wallet to make donations to the forum! I learned that the hard way. They will freeze and close your account.

@Gracie5 exactly. For donating CB is fine. When you start talking larger amounts, find a different exchange.

Edit: I mean to say CB is fine for depositing, but then you must transfer to a different wallet and donate.

  1. xenxra @ xenxra: @LW815 from my experience, CP strikes usually tend to leave the snails alone

  8. xenxra @ xenxra: @cjg201496 high demand, (somewhat) low supply - only inevitable that some cuts would pop up eventually. i dont use it so i cant attest to any particular vendors.

  13. M @ Mammasboi123: @MapleLeaf hit me up if you need someone to make you one! Like you and @xenxra mention, it’s pretty straightforward to make and there’s lots of good tools available out there that’re free to use!
  14. xenxra @ xenxra: photopea is a pretty good option, its basically just a free web clone of photoshop front-end
  15. xenxra @ xenxra: i mean they're just basic graphics... you could make one in mspaint if you really wanted to... just have to DM admin about getting it put up there.
  16. M @ MapleLeaf: Hey DBG fam :) just wondering, how do these vendors make the banners that scroll at the top of the site? Is it something I should just hire someone off of Fiverrr for, or is there a tool that easily makes one? It doesn't seem too complex! Haha
  17. xenxra @ xenxra: well is an understatement
