Cutting Morphine Patches

Hello,

My doctor gave me some morphine patches awhile back and I've held onto some that were left over in case of an emergency. An emergency came up where I'm in chronic pain, however the high dose of the patch makes me sick. I just need to get by till I see my doctor on Monday.

Is it safe to cut these with scissors in half or in quarters to lower the dose?

As a note: The same goes for Morphine in pill form that's ER-- is it safe at VERY low doses when it's cut?
