I rec'd a sketchy PM from banksyk and when I pulled up his/her profile out said "banned" My question is, if this member is banned then how can they still send pm's??

Maybe they got banned between sending you the pm and you pulling up their profile.

i posted here a in search of a domestic supplier that carried a specific product and banksyk sent over a pm stating he/she had an awesome source.  

i emailed the person in mexico, they sent over their prices and i placed an order through wu the same day.  i received an email from the scammer saying they picked up the funds and i would have it overnight.  the very next morning banksyk sent me a pm:

you wind up making an order with that guy? I placed one yesterday evening and was supposed to have a TN last night. Just got home from work, no package..no TN..and no reply from him. wtf.

at that moment i was 80% sure it was a scam.  but im a lil too optimistic at times , so i kept calm and patiently waited.  

then i received this:

NO!  I am having a nervous break down, too. I specifically ordered xans from him expecting them to be here YESTERDAY. Nothing yesterday, nor today. Not even a reply. PLEASE tell me you got in touch with him?

thats when i was pretty sure it was a scam.  what are the odds, the day i place an order, your "extremely reputable" vendor is not responding to either of us.

i have the guys info.  if its ok i am willing to post it, just in case banksyk returns as a different character.  

i took a major major major hit for the team.

Sorry that happened to you but you did not take a hit for the team.

You chose to do something very dumb, you sent $ based on a private PM from someone that's not a vendor.

There are vendors listed here, use them.

If you go with a one off sketchy source that only contacted you and no one else here would ever use them, you didn't take a hit for us.

You did something that I believe is posted in the rules here under don't do this.

yeah, that hit was very expensive.  

on a brighter note, the universe sent some good karma my way that somewhat balanced the loss.    

i just keep thinking maybe the scammers needed the funds to take care of a sick relative or to buy food for hungry children.   /default_dry.png  

if not, sucks to be them when the bad karma hits, hard.

They do a very good job of catching scammers here. I went to report one to the mods and he was already banned. It was within an hour and I was very impressed!

That is EXACTLY why we discourage soliciting information and not readingthe forums instead. If you are lazy, you get spanked. Easily. Sorry it happened toyou, there are manymany assholes out there! I amgoing to promote this thread to anyone who solicits info.

are the vendors identified through their profile (next to the star)?

The vendors are identified bybeing in the vendor threads. Do your reading.....it is very simple. The vendors are seperated by area of the world. International,mexican, etc. read and you will learn. There is great info here. This is the best forumthere is.

you are right. I disobeyed and was punished. this was my first time ever experiencing anything like this (email/wu) and I will admit I can be extremely naive at times. I only need to bump my head once to get it, and trust and believe I learned my lesson and will never do this again.

I just recognized it because I'm from the "415"
