Does Appearance Make A Difference When Going For Followup Refills

man i got dressed up for my appointment , nice dark black paints with my wallabee's and polo shirt , he was in the room for 5mins, handed my script and said see you in 3months for your physical, next time ima come in with my beach bum smelly look!!

i even shaved! I SHAVED!

Yes I totally agree with everyone here, dressing and looking nice to any doctors appointment I believe makes a huge difference. I am a little off the subject, but whenever you go any place where these people have control of your life, I am dressed to the nines. I couldn't believe when I was going to court for my pot charge. I was in shock how people were dressed for court, jogging pants, hookers that literally came to court wearing their professional clothing  ie, next to nothing! I saw people show up filthy that smelled and hadn't bathed, and I know for a fact after seeing how the judge treated these people if you do not show the court respect you are treated differently, because I saw many of these people go to jail for less than what I did, I showed the judge my upmost respect, spent money on court attire, and only got three months probation, where she sent others with lesser charges than me to jail. So I believe doctors are the same, if you go into a doctors office looking like crap and like you're not taking care of yourself they will be less likely to prescribe, During my pill seeking days, my husband and I would would wear our best attire every time. We even had a friend who dressed as a priest to doctors visits to get drugs, and it worked great! It worked for a long time before he ran out of doctors!

For what its worth I had my first appointment with pain management yesterday.  I wore a suit and got exactly what I needed, and under no suspicion of seeking drugs, which I was not doing.  However, from some of the horror stories I have read it is common to be profiled as a drug seeker.  Hope this helps:)

At the first visit, I'd say don't go in PJs and flip-flops, like those Walmart people on YouTube. When the psych MD evaluate your condition, and make a diagnosis, he will prescribe you meds. I'm very lucky with my doctor, I told him what worked for me in the past, so we went with that, plus he added a mood stabilizer (I'm bipolar) and he asked me if I wanted something for anxiety and sleep and if so, what. I was surprised and I said, I'd prefer Lunesta over Ambien, since Ambien gets me hooked in a week, and the WDs are horrible, why the Lunesta is barely addictive. Also he wanted to prescribe 1mg Alps, but I asked him to get me Kl0nopins instead, because of the longer half-life, and it's a bit less addictive, and less recreational. It's important to me, to not get addicted mentally "for the high" on my prescribed meds, because I would start popping X@nax, even when I don't need it. Kl0nopin is absolutely different, sometimes I go 2 days without it, without remembering, or noticing the WD symptoms, even though I've been on benzos for 16 years. On X@nax I had to pop one every 4-5 hours, otherwise my whole body would shake. So thanks but no thanks.

And about appearance, the second+ visit, you can easily show up like jogging outfit (last week I showed up in my soccer outfit, since I was playing pick-up before my appt.). He was happy that I was active.

You're interpreting too much into this. Show up whatever you like. (Have clothes on :)  ) You can have beard, or tattooed skinhead, just be clean, don't make the office smell like a garbage recycling  plant. Usually if you're clean and fresh and don't stare at the floor the whole session, he will not suspect abusing prescription drugs, or you don't bring any other IOP drugs into the mix.

Doctors are very good at reading reading your facial expressions, especially your eyes. If you're not doing anything wrong, show up  in a bathrobe if that makes you happy.

ps: I'm losing my mind, I've already posted in this thread 2 weeks ago, sorry...

Total BS. If you appear to be taking good care of your self, show that you care about your appearance by dressing nicely and most importantly stay engaged with the conversation between you and your doc it makes a HUUUGE difference in how they will decided on treatment.

Yes, I'm never going to tell another dr that I'm tapering off the b3nz and trust them to do it slowly so I don't go into w/d. Lessoned learned especially with her. I live in a big beach city in California right now. The drs here are very hesitant to perscribe b3nz to anyone. I am moving back to Az in June, back to the small little hick town (also its a military town) and the drs there give out Benz and pks like candy. But i only took what i was prescribed. I never had a problem getting them till I moved to Cali a year and a half ago. The whole idea of moving here was to taper off nice and slow and get well again for my kids. I have no history of any kind of substance abuse. Everything in my medical charts talks about what I've been thru my whole life and the meds I've been on. And here I move, and they don't even prescribe the damn things, so she tapered me so fast it made me sicker when I was starting to get better from being sick. Thank god I'm moving back to Az. I already called all my old drs and they said they will take me, except for the other most important one....Mr pk doc.... I'm still waiting on him. Those drs were wonderful. Almost wish I had never moved. But actually had no choice. Sorry for the rant. That ca woman (psych), took away my quality of life by tapering me to damn fast. Im so angry because of it. I begged her to go slow. Theres nuthing wrong in tapering slow. Especialy wen you have been on a high dosage for 7,yrs. My children had to suffer as well, cuz mommy was bedridden. I came to Cali to get well and heal by tapering slowly. Well, that was a joke, until by the grace of god somehow I found dbg last sept. And omg this forum literally is saving my quality of life right now. No other drs here get any credit for helping me get well. Dbg gets all the credit in the world from me.

again sorry for the rant. It brings me to tears. This is a very sensitive subject for me.
I hear ya about Cali!  I'm a longtime transplant but never needed CS meds before some yrs after living here.  I cannot believe that it's easy as pie to get quality 420 stuff, even for rec (I don't do it, not my scene), but if you need to sleep badly and OTC don't cut it, or if you've had a nervous breakdown, jangled nerves, panic etc, - especially if it's time for those tapering doses - shit, I always dress well to go to the pill mill, hair neat, makeup on and all, but I get the 3rd degree and hafta plead my case every time, no matter where I go, or family dr., clinic, etc.

I wonder if  I'd be better off just waltzing into the office wearing a t-shirt that says "Better Living Through Chemistry". 😁

My mother always said life is a beauty pageant!!!  Basically it's true.  Plus it never ever helps to look your best after all your not going to the beach.
