Does Moneygram (UK) require ID to send online? (smaller amounts)

I'm in a situation where I don't have photo ID (what I have is date-expired).

I've been reading online & have read different things; some says that Moneygram doesn't require ID for transactions under £800, I wonder if anyone can confirm?  I'm also worried MG might take my money but then insist on ID to get it back if anything doesn't work out.

It seems like MG & Western Union now want ID to send money in-person from a location (it's been over 5 years since I last did this).

Lack of valid ID is causing me issues, & even LocalBitcoin seems to want KYC/ID, LocalMonero seems like it might be the way to go, then exchange to Bitcoin, but obviously the prices/charges reflect my situation.

Any advice or info is much appreciated!

@mickuk yes you have to have a valid ID which means up to date in order to send & pick up money.  Also if the transaction were to fail you have to show valid ID again in order to get your money back.

MG & WU should be avoided if at all possible. Caused my a great deal of stress a year or two ago...threads are on here about it somewhere.

  9. Alkazar @ Alkazar: Technically they were forced back to work the last time they went on strike in 2024, so this is the same strike for the same reasons in 2025.
  10. Alkazar @ Alkazar: I dont know how to direct reply to people on here. But the Canada Post strike will affect any mail coming from the US. It will be held at a facility until the striek is over. Mail that is being sent from CAD to the US will just not be picked up. It all has to be private delivery services now.
