Anyone on here a regular Electrum user?  I unfortunately transferred some bitcoin to Electrum not realizing that I can't connect to any of the servers.  There must be servers to use somewhere right?!!

What other wallets do you people use as an alternative?

Hey there @ozzy13

I use Electrum on a regular basis and you should not be running into any problems Server wise as to quote there own site -

Electrum servers are decentralized and redundant. Your wallet is never down.

Are you sure there's not a firewall or an Anti-virus blocking your incoming connections to the wallet?

HERE is an official link to the servers and the ports they use. (Lists only Bitcoin Electrum servers)

I would be having a look at those before looking into anything else as this is more than likely where the problems exist..

You could also have a read HERE at the official Electrum Community page if the above does not fix your problem..

Regards,  T.

I just downloaded Electrum, it had 2 icons. I clicked on the one that said Electrum Testnet and filled it out. Gave me the secret key/passwords etc. What do I do with the other one? I'm also confused on how to buy bitcoins and then how do they magically get into my wallet? I'm old and my brain is as scrambled as my avatar! Anyone? Thanks in advance. In the meantime I'll keep reading the entire internet.

I use electrum too and never had problems.

@Jimmy Yuma the wallet you just got is for storing your bitcoins and a safe place from which to send them. You still have to go buy your bitcoins and transfer them into your wallet.

There are much better experts than I, but if you need more help just keep posting your questions and Toker, Heircroc1, or one of our helpful members will try to answer. Put that little @ before our names for the quickest replies.

Thank you @2earls It seems I need a lot of dots connected. I wonder if someone made a video on Bitcoin for Dummies? That would be my cup of tea!

You're not the only dummy.  I made my first attempt at buying and sending Bitcoin last night.  It was awful!  I'm still worried that this site won't get my donation.  I found it daunting and like I told Earl, I'm advanced when it comes to technology.  But for some reason I have trouble understanding the whole process.  I'm sure after buying and sending a few times it will become less overwhelming as is the case with everything that is confusing and new.  Good luck to you on this new adventure!

I had an eletrum account but it wouldn't let me in because it was the old version or update. So it hit delete then redownload. I did that and it stopped working. I did a complete uninstall. And downloaded eletrum again. Now i get the password page but no password works and i can't seen to set up a new account.

Any ideas how to fix problem? Not bothered about losing any bitcoin on my old account probably less the $50 on it. But would love to use it again because of how easy it was.

If not can people suggest a private wallet that's free? I tried bitcoinCore and it said it will take 4 years 9 months to set up wallet. I thought it was a joke to begin with.

I just Downloaded Electrum and only plan on Sending 1$ to my the Wallet Receiving Address and then Sending it back to my other Wallet for this exact reason so I don't mess something up somehow. But for you that is a moot point since you can't go back in time and do it that way sorry this is happening to it must really be annoying.

It seems just Buying an 90$ Ledger Nano S is easier and impossible for someone to "hack" it or get your Bitcoin even if they physically stole assuming you add a ping to it. But they got a Legder Nano X it let's you use not just Bitcoin but Altcoins with it comes with more space not sure how much more space it comes with but it Costs 150ish U.S. $.

I am Canadian and you Google the U.S. V.s. Canadian Currency by the 1$ each is like 1$ and 30ish Cents American per every 1$ it is 300$ U.S. per 400$ Canadian and at one time I think during the recession it was the EXACT opposite we were at a Record all time high of like 1.39$ Canadian and like U.S. Dollar was like 98-1$ Per 1 Canadian $ for like half a year or maybe close to a Year I remember everyone Driving over the B0rd3r to Purch@s3 Groceries mainly like my Family Members were doing that.

There was a lot of traffic more than usual on the way to and at the Border crossing when you got there I remember that as well. But I can't wait for the American Dollar to go down to like 1.15$ or Lower in comparison to 1$ Canadian or better yet I hope the Canadian Dollar goes up again if it does I will be Donating a lot to this place and Buying even more things Online like anything that I even have will Buy tons more of just to stock up. I am waiting for the Canadian Dollar to go up to equal worth to the American Dollar like someone waiting for the Apocalypse with a Red HeadBand like Rambo read to go whoo! Lol.  :)

I'm still waiting for Coinbase. Eleven days total before it will release my money to even be transferred to Electrum.

No, you're not the only "dummies" out there---I promise!

Bitcoin is my karma for teasing my parents about not being to use the VCR.

Having issues right now with Electrum.  Tried to send money to a Kratom vendor that I have used for years.  This is the first time I've tried to pay with BTC.  Anyway,  I plugged in the address given by the vendor, hit send.    Vendor never got the money, and the address showing up in the history in Electrum is not the vendor's BTC address.  It shows 6 confirmations that the BTC was sent to an address different from the original.  Electrum apparently uses a "change" feature to hide the address for privacy purposes.  But now alot of BTC has gone into the void, and I cannot retrieve the original address.  Also had the same issue as above of having to reinstall an updated version.  I'm quite irritated and have now lost about 80 dollars in BTC that I have no idea how to retrieve.

Question, did you get a message to update, and then click the link and update prior to sending the bitcoin?

@DoomKitty  yep - thats exactly what happened. I tried to send, got a pop-up that i needed to install the latest version.   It reinstalled, and I was able to open the wallet back up, but then the BTC didnt send properly

Sadly earlier versions of electrum were susceptible to a phishing scam where a popup was introduced telling you to download and provided a download link to a fake version of Electrum which then replaced the send address with its own.  You can find more info about it here: phishing scam

I would fully delete the Electrum app from your computer and then re-download it and restore from mnemonic seed. Always download electrum from their website at electrum.org.  Im SO sorry this happened to you.

Its weird we had the same issue but had different outcomes. I couldn't get back in to wallet to try sending BC. But fixed the problem by typing the electrum address doomkitty provided, instead of following link. Sounds like you lost your money with know chance of getting it back. That sucks.

like @DoomKitty said  "I would fully delete the Electrum app from your computer and then re-download it and restore from mnemonic seed. Always download electrum from their website at electrum.org."

that long pass phrase that must be wrote down/memorized is your  fail safe "key" and proves  without a doubt that its yours.

hosted   and online wallets often keep it in their possession , which is shady, that means they ultimatly  control that wallet and the funds in it.

Electrum is pretty good, 4 years  using without a problem.

Update electrum often, memorize or write down phrase and keep it somewhere safe.

i honestly think it is easier than a kreditcard , much faster , more private and cheaper as well.

the end to bankers and banking, global currency . mark of the beast if you believe that sorta thing. Have a Nice Day!

  13. P @ Poppycock: @Mammasboi123 thank you, I’m still getting the hang of using this platform. Sometimes when I try to search something it will come back with nothing or tell me what I typed in wasn’t long enough or something
  14. M @ Mammasboi123: Also, keep in mind that if a thread topic doesn’t already exist for a particular mag after searching for it, for a particular msg you’ve got questions on, you can always open a new thread under the appropriate section to get member feedback. I only mention doing it this other way due to there being a rule against members/vendors advertising or soliciting mags via the Shout Box. So I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets removed at some point.
  15. M @ Mammasboi123: @Poppycock, I would encourage you or any other member looking for current options for various mags to first check if an existing thread has already been created on the topic by using the Search bar found on the upper right corner of the site. For example, here’s a recent thread that was posted just a couple months ago that shows up when I type in ‘5APB’ to the search bar: https://drugbuyersguide.info/threads/4-fma-and-6-apb.11276/#post-268359.
