Filling scripts for controlled meds

lets say your doctor has you on 1 mg a day of Xanax and gives you two prescriptions for the next two months.  so you go back in a couple weeks and you manage to get him to raise it to 1.5 mg a day, he gives you a new script and you go fill it. But you still have one paper prescription at home for a months worth of Xanax 1 mg a day.  Well, in Florida this script for 1 mg a day is useless to me, I can never fill it now because Ive filled a new script from this doctor for 1.5 mg a month and will be taking that dosage from now on. All the pharmacies in Florida have access to any scripts I've filled in the last 30 days. Is there any way to get it filled or just throw it out? thanks in advance

I think it depends whether or not you're trying to do it and have it billed to insurance. It used to be that if you were paying in cash, you could do it. With things tightening up now, it might be harder, even with cash, each state being a little different. I know they were trying to develop a nation-wide data base to keep track of controlled rx's filled, by who, having which doctors, etc. but doubt they have that in place yet. Like I said, ins. companies do keep track of that info. Maybe you can Google to see how your state is set up? Hope this helps.

Having said that, I think I should add that I don't recommend or condone what you are suggesting as it's probably against the law. ;)

I live in Fla and very familiar with how things work down here and my simple advise to you is to just throw it away. The risk far outweighs there benefits and if you're just looking to have some extra bzo on hand you can easily get them from numerous sources on DBG.

There is also the risk of the pharmacy calling the doctor. Since you have a doctor willing to prescribe at all.... I would throw the script out to avoid the temptation. It sucks but yeah.

Probably using a legitimate online pharmacies in the usa or canada that make you send them your actual prescription theyd probably want a copy  of it or picture of the slip for the drugs thats why you see some sites have everything you need but you need a a real prescription signed by a real doc and they might mail fill it for you

In California we have the CURES system in place now, and Florida has E-Force (?) or something like that. basically any pharmacist or MD or any doctors office can access this and see exactly all controlled/monitored substances you have been prescribed. With all the laws and cracking down of any prescribing opioids etc, more and more providers check the system automatically. I think before they only checked if suspicious of doctor shopping etc. I had the same thing where the doctor gave me an RX ahead of time for a different dose. I went to a pharmacy and because they also call the doctor to check the RX, they all ended up looking in CURES and seeing it was too soon and I was blacklisted from that pharmacy and my doctor.

I had something similar happen to me a few years back except mine was a bit worse but turned out ok!  I had 2 scripts from 2 different doctors and filled one then about two weeks later filled the other one!  Very bad on my part!  I was caught immediately when they checked the system.  Luckily after talking with my doctor she agreed to continue seeing me and filling my scripts but, I learned a very important lesson and would never even think of doing something like this again!!!  It's just not worth it!

@Chubette yes, the only good thing was that my MD was retiring anyway and I would have had to get a new one either way. I still haven't found a good neurologist who will help me with controlling my migraines as well as giving abortive meds. Of course with the government breathing down providers backs about prescribing meds, I will be lucky to find one now.

  3. N @ NYStateofMind: @Alkazar I would try one of those easy online ones .. reddit gives useful info about that
  4. Alkazar @ Alkazar: @NYStateofMind I dont really have a history of abusing things, my docotr is just really stingy. I am thinking of switching.

  10. N @ NYStateofMind: I didnt really tell him but he knew I needed a new script since my dr went to jail
  11. N @ NYStateofMind: @xenxra I was on Adderall since 15 years ago so my dr prescribed that w no problems and then when I lost my best friend my doctor rxed the valiums but
  12. C @ Cheesus: Temp.pm down for anyone else?
  13. xenxra @ xenxra: @NYStateofMind my doctor's have always been pretty open minded if i can actually come in and explain the pharmacological action of the drugs im seeking instead of just telling them why i think i should be prescribed. the only time it didn't work out for me is when i was trying pharmaceuticals for depression ten years ago and suggested they let me try testosterone instead (turns out i was hypogonadal so they made a mistake denying my request at face value)
  14. T @ Testisthebest: Even down here in Florida when the pill mill docs all switched over to Suboxone and/or retired you can still find some pretty liberal docs but you gotta know what to look for. Mine does "pain management, detox, anxiety, etc. And no insurance. My doc writes me 60 5mg Valium, 14 2mg Xanax and asked if I had ever tried adderal to get more focus at work as I told him I run my own business.
  15. N @ NYStateofMind: @Alkazar do they know your history? Like I dont tell my doctor anything about myself except what they need to know,...I was able to get my dr to rx the highest dose of adderall along with valiums ..... if they dont know your history or there is no history I would just come out and ask what is the reason for their mistreatment.... they have no problem billing your insurance or taking a payment for the visit
  16. T @ Turbo259: @Layne_Cobain Thank you fam
  17. Alkazar @ Alkazar: It is INSANE how doctors treat tax paying hard working people like criminals when they ask for opioids. This world just keeps getting more and more backwards. But thanks to this site to be able to find people to help when no one in the medical world will.
  18. L @ Layne_Cobain: Hang in there @Turbo259 life can be such a Fkn sludge prayers and good vibes to you and your loved ones 🙏 ❤️
