I wanted to share my experience because I know a lot of people on here are struggling to find doctors who actually listen — especially if you have a history with substances or mental health diagnoses.

I’ve been diagnosed with panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, PTSD, OCD, bipolar, and more. But my biggest daily battles are crippling panic attacks, severe overthinking, and non-stop anxiety. I’ve been on Klonopin for over 10 years — started at 0.5mg, gradually moved up to 2mg/day, and stayed there for 8 years. For me, Klonopin has been a lifesaver, and I don’t care what today’s “one-size-fits-all” doctors say.

After being honest with my previous doctor about my misuse of Roxycodone, he stopped prescribing controlled meds and referred me out. I was spending every dollar I had chasing Roxy, and even tried to get off with 7-OH (from kratom) — which honestly ended up being just as addictive, if not worse, for me.

That’s when I used the Medicare Part D Prescriber Tool — and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for help. It’s an underrated resource that shows what doctors prescribe and how much of each medication they prescribe. You can check if a doctor actually prescribes things like benzos, Subutex, stimulants, etc. — and avoid wasting your time with someone who won’t even touch controlled substances.

That’s how I found my current doctor, and I truly believe he saved my life. He’s got 40+ years of experience, takes a no-BS approach, and actually treats people like individuals, not just problems.

Here’s what he’s done for me:

  • Started me at 8mg Subutex/day, bumped to 16mg, now at 24mg/day
  • Increased my Klonopin to 3mg, then 4mg/day after only two visits
  • Prescribed 40mg/day of Adderall IR after a real ADHD evaluation
  • Drug tests every visit, with a 2-strike policy — third failure and you’re discharged
  • Bloodwork every 3 months
  • Cash-pay only, monthly visits

He’s not a pill-pusher. He doesn’t prescribe pain meds. But he listens, monitors closely, and does what it takes to help you function and feel well. Not just “clean.” Not just “compliant.” Well.

So if you’re out there losing hope — please don’t. There are still good doctors out there. Use the tools. Be honest. Stay clean. Keep pushing.

Isn't Medicare only for people like 65 or older tho?
That’s what I’ve always thought also.
Maybe she’s talking about Medicaid? Not sure . I’m pretty sure I know what tool she’s referring to though that shows exactly what the Dr is prescribing.

A friend of mine used this tool awhile back to find a Dr that she hoped would work for her .
The Dr. she found did do a lot more for her than some previous @$$hole Docs.

You and I have really close similar stories when it come to SEVERAL CRIPPLING ANXIETY! Everything you said , I’ve said and explained in the exact same way SO MANY TIMES! I was started on Xans when I was 19(my Mom had passed suddenly)
I’m in my late 30s now and I’ve been on Xanax, Xanax Xr, Valium 10mg, and Klonopin.
15 years give or take . Kpins work best for me. I’m also on Methadone 60mg as well though. Unfortunately my Dr is going to be retiring next year, and I want to go ahead and have someone else in place and ready! Unless My current doctor (who I’ve been with 18 years now) he may make sure to leave me with someone he trusts.
He’s a Very Old school doctor! Guy is in his late 60s. So he wasn’t ever a jerk or dickhead about prescribing me Benzos. Honestly, he’d let me try just about every one available in the U.S. !
(I got other Benzos off and on throughout the years from other countries) several they didn’t have here.

I suffer also from the same Mental health issues as you. Except for Bipolar.
My Dr. had me as General Anxiety Disorder and just recently updated to show as Chronic Anxiety Disorder, ADHD, Panic Disorder PTSD (a lot of unresolved grief)

My current Dr. Has it worked out where I’m able to get Mdone Rx from him as well. Not for Opiate addiction though , even though that’s 90% what I take it for other 10% is for Pain management. As you know for some DUMB reasons Drs can prescribe Subs for Addiction- BUT MDONE THATS BEEN AROUND SOO MUCH Longer and is Know across the world how great it works, yet they won’t (yet) let Drs prescribe it for Addiction.
Unless you go to a Mdone Clinic smh.

Anyways, Whenever you get back on, Msg me back and I’ll give u my Email.
I think we could probably talk and just relate with one another so much, if for nothing else, It’s another person that for sure understands the struggle.

I can relate to you 100% about the racing thoughts, My mind races almost soon as I wake!

I Believe he was just referring to the tool. I've used the same tool before as well it shows which doctors prescribe meds and in what amounts etc. Pretty handy. Love hearing stuff like this. These new doctors are anti everything that works to be honest.

  17. D @ drdrizzy13: The transfer portal has turned big conferences especially the SEC more like trading players. And they need to fix the NIL deals. Not really fair for one player to get 7 mil and his teammate getting 1k. It's corrupted college football..
  18. tiquanunderwood @ tiquanunderwood: @Layne_Cobain Lets go boyyyyyy!
  19. tiquanunderwood @ tiquanunderwood: Happy Football Sunday! Leggo Ravens baby.
  20. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: Bulldogs take the cake - Kiffin deserves to play in a place called Death Valley - Man how I used to love Saturdays in the fall. But College Football is dead. My prediction? Transfer portal and NIL with million dollar “salaries” mean NCAA Football becomes the defacto NFL D league except they’re all free agents. To compete, Superconfrences are going to continue to consolidate, privatize or go corporate, and the NCAA can go back to worrying about title IXX and Women’s volleyball and such.
